Less than two months after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made the flu vaccine optional for U.S. servicemen and women, an outbreak on a Texas air base has sickened nearly 160 people, The New York Times reported on Thursday.

“The United States military consists of approximately 2.12 million total personnel.”

Out of 2.12 million military personnel, ONE-HUNDRED-SIXTY got the flu? OMG OMG OMG!

I don’t to math (I’m a girl), but the percentage ...

It’s just the flu, they needn’t go to pieces over it.

I’m thinking BMT airmen at Lackland. May be a BFD for the hospital staff, but in the overall picture.... it’s still THE FLU.

Wait... so vaccines ARE supposed to prevent infection and not simply weaken the symptoms? Did the “science” change again from the Covid years?

Flu shots only protect you from what went around last year.

No reporting on whether or not the strain contracted was actually included in the offered flu shot.

Okaaaaay...

How many of the sick soldiers had a flu vax?

Apples and oranges. Fake News Fear Porn for the masses and to use as propaganda against our current leadership in Washington, DC.

Not all influenza is covered by the annual vaccine. “Flu” strains travel throughout the population year-round, usually influenza B strains but not always. As a clinician I’ve had this argument repeatedly with poorly educated colleagues who were demonstrably wrong and proven so by my showing them the test results from our in-house lab as well as from samples sent to the state health department for confirmation. There IS no “off-season” for influenza.

Even IF every single troop was vaccinated, there is ALWAYS a percentage of individuals who will simply NOT mount a protective immune defense to the antigens in the shot, some who won’t react at ALL, some who develop only a short-term protective set of IgM antibodies; at BEST, the annual flu shot is ONLY 50-70 percent effective in any given population and then, due to viral “antigenic drift” (the proteins targeted by the immunization changing over the course of time, sometimes months), protection often fades to near zero in short order.

What proof? You know how some people never seem to develop seasonal allergies? Yeah, that. Not everyone gets itchy, watery eyes or congestion and runny nose or cough/wheezing when exposed to ragweed pollen. One person may be highly allergic to the point of anaphylaxis and death to peanut butter while the vast majority of people can eat it without any immune response whatsoever. One of the mechanisms of immunotherapy is to give someone a slowly increasing dose of an allergen to the point their immune system doesn’t recognize it and eventually gets used to it to the point of not even reacting.

Leftist media will use anything to try and bash President Trump and his cabinet members, trusting in the state of public education victimhood to keep people uninterested, ignorant, and fearful.

Not true. Flu vaccines prevent whatever the flu vaccine was designed to prevent. If the shot is taken early enough before exposure *and* if it takes. Individual cases don’t always take for various health and metabolic related issues. We have stocks of all significant flu strains and we watch to see what the most likely flus will be in the coming season. It’s a prediction which is often good, sometimes fair, and sometimes really bad. And that’s because the prediction has to be made months in advance to start producing vaccine stocks.

The prediction has nothing to do with what went around last year. It’s all about what they are seeing develop a few months in advance.

I got the flu vaccine (last winter) and still got the flu.

The vaccine does not stop anything. It’s just a giant scam.

The mRNA tech is in flu shots now. The VA is pushing it and last year they were pushing the Vets to get the Shingles shot at the same time and stations where most vets get their flu shots at their local VA. And those shingles shots also have the mRNA stuff in them. If it wasn’t for that I would get the flu shot. Haven’t got it in the last couple years and I haven’t got the flu. I got a pretty good immune system.

It’s likely not even the flu. It’s probably just a cold. The real flu puts you in bed for a week. A cold knocks you out for a day.

The military forced me to get a flu shot and I still got the flu. Years of mandatory unnecessary injections can lead to major health problems.

So just because you have the vaccine does not mean you will not get the flu - it means when you do, it should be a milder case. I am sure that the virus is going around and many were exposed instead of the “Oh My people are getting sick because the vaccine is no longer required” mindset
