A young woman who trusted the medical establishment with her future now bears the scars of its ideological zealotry. Claire Abernathy, subjected to a double mastectomy as a teenager, has written an unflinching open letter to the surgeon who performed it, declaring that he stole her girlhood and left her to live with the consequences.
Her damning indictment of a medical industry that rushed vulnerable children into irreversible procedures under the banner of “care” reveals the need for sanity.
Abernathy’s story begins in confusion and trauma. At just 14 years old, she was placed on testosterone after a fleeting consultation. Months later, she underwent the life-altering surgery. What should have been a time of innocent discovery and natural development became a conveyor belt of hormones and scalpels.
Today, she lives with a numb, scarred chest, nerve pain that zaps like constant reminders of betrayal, and the haunting realization that healthy parts of her body were amputated before she could even grasp the permanence.
In her letter, posted by Genspect, Abernathy addresses Dr. Alan Dulin directly and without deference. She refuses him the title of “doctor,” calling him instead a man who disfigured children for profit and ideology.
“You stole my girlhood. You killed the woman I was supposed to become,” she writes.
She describes watching grafted nipple tissue turn black and fall away, the disfiguring scars, and the daily agony that followed. These are not abstract regrets; they are the lived reality of experimental medicine imposed on minors.
Dulin, a plastic surgeon in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, performed high volumes of these procedures prior to Texas’s SB14 restrictions. Records placed his practice among top billers for pediatric transgender surgeries.
A 15-minute consultation preceded Abernathy’s mastectomy, between eighth and ninth grade. No deep exploration of underlying issues like trauma or mental health—just swift affirmation and surgery. This pattern echoes across the country, where ideology supplanted careful diagnostics and watchful waiting.
The broader “gender-affirming” enterprise has faced mounting scrutiny. European countries have pulled back on youth transitions after systematic reviews found weak evidence and significant risks. In the United States, lawsuits are proliferating.
Recent verdicts, including multimillion-dollar awards to detransitioners, signal that the house of cards is collapsing. Surgeons and clinics once celebrated for their “progressive” work now confront the human cost: sterilized young people, lifelong medical dependency, and profound regret.
Parents placed trust in experts who promised salvation through transition. Instead, many received a new trauma layered atop existing pain. Abernathy’s case highlights how social contagion, online influences, and institutional pressure funneled distressed girls—often those struggling with same-sex attraction, autism, or abuse—toward medicalization rather than therapy addressing root causes. The irony is stark: an industry claiming to fight “harm” inflicted profound, permanent harm while silencing dissenters as bigots.
This rush to intervene ignored basic biology and developmental reality. Puberty is not a disease to be blocked or surgically altered. It is the natural unfolding of God’s design for the human body—male and female, fearfully and wonderfully made. Young minds lack the maturity to consent to such mutilation, a truth now vindicated by growing numbers of detransitioners finding their voices.
Abernathy has testified before lawmakers and the FTC, naming those responsible. Her courage forces a reckoning. As more victims emerge, the medical establishment’s defense of these practices as “life-saving” rings hollow against the evidence of shattered lives. States restricting these interventions are not denying care but protecting children from predators wielding scalpels in service of delusion.
Jase Medical Medically Prepared What does it profit a medical system to gain the approval of activists while losing the souls and bodies of the young? The Bible warns us of such false shepherds: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil” (Isaiah 5:20).
In the face of this cultural and medical deception, voices like Abernathy’s remind us that truth and protection of the innocent must prevail over fashionable lies.
Her letter is more than personal catharsis; it is a warning and a demand for justice. The whole world should know what happened in those operating rooms. Accountability for the surgeons, clinics, and ideologues who enabled this is not optional—it is essential to restoring trust in medicine and safeguarding the next generation.
The girlhood stolen from Claire Abernathy and others like her cannot be returned, but their testimony can prevent further theft.

A minor has full knowledge of nothing, hence, they are minors.
And the job of the adults in the room is TO BE THE ADULTS IN THE ROOM. That explicitly includes telling the brat "NO". In fact, telling the brat "NO" at a much younger age goes a long way toward reducing (not necessarily eliminating) brattiness in the teen years.
The adults failed to be adults, and the brat got what she thought she wanted ... good and hard.
Hideous statement. No they are not brats. They are minors being exploited by satanic adults predators.
Experience tells us otherwise. Part of a parent's or guardian's job is to prevent harm to the (bratty) child. The (bratty) child may not like it, but that goes with the territory.
As we get older, our parents (seem to) get wiser.
“Where are her parents? They should be jailed for allowing permanent damage to their daughter.”

Looks like the parents were conned right along with the daughter. My question is... who the hell was PAYING for that therapist? If the parents disagreed, why would ‘they’ pay for it? Was the therapy free? And if so, this is being presented as if this was an organized con job pepetuated on this family. Except for this fact....
the family moved OUT of Texas to avoid being investigated for transitioning their kid via Texas laws against transitioning children. So the parents really were ‘all in’ on it from the get-go. And only NOW they’re complaining and blaming others??? So yeah, I blame the parents mostly.
“Unfortunately, Claire Abernathy eventually did become suicidal—after her transition. But when Carrie began seeking help for her daughter, she ran into another dilemma: in Texas, where they lived, parents can be investigated for child abuse if the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) determines they transitioned their child.
Carrie was panicked. “I was so terrified that I would lose custody of her,” she told IW Features. “That I would take her to a facility to get help, and then the state would take custody of her, and I wouldn’t be able to bring her home. I just determined that the only thing to do was to leave the state of Texas because I was not going to lose my child. I did all of what I did to not lose my child.”.”

“At age 12, she began seeing a therapist “specialized in the gender field” who, Claire said, “made my parents feel very small, like they didn’t know their own child.” The therapist warned her parents that failing to affirm Claire in her gender confusion would be abusive.
For Claire’s mother, Carrie Abernathy, those words were paralyzing. “If my child is going to kill herself if I don’t affirm her, I’m going to do whatever I have to do to save my child’s life,” she said. “That was kind of a no-brainer.””

Parents are req to participate or lose custody in many areas
No. It does not have to be adjudicated in California. The plaintiff would be a resident of that other state. He/She could sue THERE in federal court. They don’t have to sue where the defendant is. Obviously the defendant will file for a change of venue to move the case to where they are but the plaintiff will fight it and it is by no means sure that the court will grant the motion for a change of venue. Those are granted only 30-50% of the time.
Even if the defendant does get a change of venue, federal courts tend to be a lot less biased than state courts.
Dulin deserves massive criticism and punishment for going along with/facilitating medically inappropriate treatments resulting in permanent child mutilation. But usually other physicians have worked with the patients, and referred them to the surgeon for particular procedures. The surgeon’s question is more “can this be done physically?” rather than “was this an appropriate holistic diagnosis?”. The referring physician deserves most of the blame for steering the patient in this direction. Sue them, yank their licenses, etc. As others have daid, where were the girl’s parents in all this?
Experience does not tell us otherwise. Certainly some 15 year olds are brats. So are some 5 year olds and some 25 year olds.
Some 15 year olds are fantastic human beings. Most are kinda average. They are not adults’ playthings to be mutilated and discarded.
I agree with it; experience and observation confirm it.
They are not adults’ playthings to be mutilated and discarded.
Indeed. 100%. The job of adults is to BE ADULTS ... this includes PROTECTING 15 year olds (and other children), even (especially?) from those children's own inexperience, naivete, confusion, and stupidity. The adults in this woman's life, when she was a child, failed catastrophically in their duties.
