Two helicopters collided over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday, killing all six people aboard the aircraft.

American musician Oliver Tree, 32, was among the deceased individuals.

According to Rio de Janeiro’s military fire department, one of the helicopters crashed on a car dealership, which ignited a fire.

“The Brazilian Air Force (FAB), through the Center for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa), informs that, on Sunday (14), investigators from the Third Regional Service for the Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Seripa 3), based in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), were called to carry out the initial action of the occurrence involving two aircraft, registration PP-MAC and PR-DJJ, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro (RJ). During the initial action, qualified and accredited professionals apply specific techniques for data collection and confirmation, preservation of elements, initial verification of damage caused to the aircraft or by the aircraft, in addition to the collection of other information necessary for the investigation,” a statement read, according to Breaking Aviation News & Videos.

NBC News shared further:

Whitney Cummings, an actor and comedian, wrote online that Tree was one of the most talented people on earth, adding that being talented “usually comes with an ego and all kinds of —-head nonsense.”

“But Oliver is pure love and the best version of what an artist and person can and should be. There’s no silver lining. We lost a giant,” Cummings wrote.

The post also included a photo of her and Tree, hugging each other with large smiles on their faces.

KSI, a British influencer and musician, wrote on X that he couldn’t believe he had to type a post paying tribute to Tree’s death.

“You’re 32, man. You should still be here. You still had so much life to live. So much music to make. So much content to make,” he said. “You’re a legend and will always be a legend. Still doesn’t feel real. Genuinely feel sick. I love you, bro.”

The two collaborated on music, including the song “Voices” released in January 2023.

Rapper bbno$ shared that Tree was an inspiration and thanked him for his creativity and brilliance, ading that his heart was shattered at news of his passing.

Tree performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 4, and published a video on his Instagram Saturday where he is playing soccer in a Brazilian neighborhood.

“The passengers alongside the singer included a Brazilian music producer, Argentine video director and Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim, known online as Gaspi,” The Guardian stated.

More from The Guardian:

The helicopters collided mid-air in the western suburb of Recreio dos Bandeirantes before plummeting into the car park of an electric car dealership, setting ablaze about 20 cars, according to firefighters.

One of the helicopters was carrying five people and the other only the pilot. There were no survivors.

Tree – with a distinctive bowl haircut and internet persona – was known for songs including Life Goes On, Miss You, and Alien Boy.

He has more than 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with his top songs listened to more than 700m times.

He was due to play more than 70 shows across 30 countries on seven continents during his world tour.

If you say someone’s name, declare them to be famous and the first reaction by most people is “who?”, that person is NOT famous.

Hubby used to commute a couple days a week for his job with a defense contractor. In CA, down the coastline. He hated every minute of it.
