When I lived in Hawaii, The Pearl City Tavern was famous for The Monkey Room, which was home to a group of live monkeys.

They razed it in 1993.

I have a photo of my father taken there shortly after the end of WWII; he’s with a few other people having drinks around a table. I think they were fellow Marines and some women they’d met up with.

For many of the Sailors, the main pursuit in the tavern was to agitate Marines (and vice versa), not monkeys. ”If you wanted to learn to fight, that was the place to do it.” (Sailor)

“We’d love to fistfight the Marines, and it was easy to instigate them. All you had to do was try to dance with their girlfriends. That guaranteed a brawl every time.”

On3 would have hoped of all people, infants and toddlers, properly strapped into car seats, would escape serious injuries.

When I think of the Marines, I always remember Eleanor Roosevelt's quote; she wasn't entirely right, but they could be forbidding if you got on their wrong side:

'The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!'

From the video it looks like one of those oversized electric golf cart EV things was speeding and nailed some slower driver.

They are all lucky the damn thing did not erupt in flames.

Looks like possibly it was a Tesla? traveling way to fast rear ended the white car merging into the far left lane. Some might blame the white car, but in California if you get hit in the rear you are likely not going to be charged at fault.

Not sure why this is news as there are probably 100 similar crashes a day. I guess the dashcam makes it news.

My AF husband used to hate having to stage out of Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in PR because the sailors were always fighting in the barracks.
It was hard to get any sleep with furniture being thrown out windows, etc.
