The U.S. military will attack Iran “VERY HARD TONIGHT,” and will soon take over the country’s “oil infrastructure points,” President Donald Trump said Thursday.
An operation to “assume total control” of Iran’s oil and gas markets and infrastructure, including taking Kharg Island, will occur “at some point in the not too distant future,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.

Right now Kharg Island is a sitting duck for anything we might want to throw at it. If we should occupy the island, it would become sitting duck for anything Iran might want to throw at it.
This could be a feign on Trump’s part. Look here while we do something over there.

There’s one thing I’m sure of, and that’s the fact that none of us is in the loop.
Let’s see. The oil infrastructure requires continued pumping. Kharg Island is needed to store the stuff and shipping it out. So we allow them to keep pumping and we decide where the oil goes otherwise the drilling machinery goes kaput. Put the revenue into an escrow account and when the ‘war’ ends we keep our share for expenses-probably all of it.

Creates all the uncertainty for the adversary that it needs to. How many resources must they divert to it, while there are ongoing battles elsewhere, and for how long? Is this a feint, or a real threat?
They probably can do little or nothing to oppose the move at this point. He likes to threaten extreme action in the hope they will finally back down.
Would be nice if you could seize the oil revenue and divert it to an opposition group which would then have the resources to take over the country.
Possibly as many as 20k people on the islands including oil workers. It should have been done initially (element of surprise!) if its to be done at all. I think (I hope!) with these public statements he’s just putting in more fog into “The Fog of War”.
