The world seems intent on locking Gen Z down.
As children, they were given smartphones and iPads which taught them to see the world through a screen, rather than with their own eyes. As tweens and teens, their schools were shut down, sending them into the solitude of Zoom classes in their bedrooms.
And now they’re being shut out of communal spaces.
In Albany, unaccompanied teens are getting categorically banned from bowling alleys, roller skating rinks, and even grocery stores — sending them onto the streets or back to their screens for entertainment.
“Our culture keeps complaining about kids addicted to their phones,” Lenore Skenazy, president of kid-focused non-profit Let Grow and author of “Free Range Kids: Giving Our Children the Freedom We Had Without Going Nuts with Worry” told The Post.
“But when they are not allowed any place where they can meet up in real life, old-school, they turn to the escape hatch provided by [ex Apple CEO] Steve Jobs.”
She’s right.
It’s hard to imagine more wholesome settings than bowling alleys and roller skating rinks. But the Times Union reported that business owners think teens are disruptive and noisy, and say they’re more likely to get into fights or shoplift.
According to the paper, “signs are going up at many stores” saying no teens allowed without parents.

And months and months of that went on with the police standing down from chasing them in their getaway SUVs, the store employees and security told to not intervene (saved their lives) and some managers even holding the door open for them to leave with the loot.
Too bad they didn’t have to trade their all black clothes and masks for matching prison clothes. Actually, with all their high value loot they probably had much better cars, clothes and housing than we can afford as working, honest people.
I want them punished.
"This isn't Nam. This is bowling. There are rules."
That would be hard for today's young people to face. Better to sit and stare at phones for 9 hours a day.

No wonder they are banned.
Well, it’s not something that a good hickory shampoo wouldn’t cure.
So we can’t take the skinheads bowling?
the one that never fully evolved??
The Amish?
But it’s really only one kind isn’t it
“ It would be illegal to target that specific demographic, so the arenas are banning all people in the identified age range.”
This is why we can’t have nice things.

It’s them again, Yogi.
The feral children of Obeyme.
In my town, stores have limited the number of teens in the store at a time, and they must leave backpacks at the front of the store, because of incidents of theft, vandalism, and general idiocy. Some members of the local Low IQ Club opened cans of sardines and threw the contents all around the Dollar Tree. The Lake Michigan beach was the site of two “Teen Takeovers” in two days. The first one had some fights. The second had just general disorderliness, climbing up on cars, etc. Over in Miller Beach there was some violence associated with a Teen Takeover. On prom night in Michigan City, a house was shot up during an after-prom party, resulting in one death. Also in Michigan City, a Teen Takeover got out of hand and some firearms were confiscated.
Sure, it’s wrong to tar every teen with the same brush but, unfortunately, a few of them spoil things for everyone else.
As a teen and a younger adult, I loved malls, too. Now I can't even remember the last time I visited one. I loathe arcades, places that sell immodest clothing, anything to do with smoking or alcohol consumption, giant cookies, food I can't eat, etc. I prefer individual suburban stores and online shopping.
Pick your favorate attraction and take control.

No argument from me.
Not all teens.
Finns?
The TDS crowd likes to blame Jooos so I’ll go with that.
I agree. Not only these thieves, but those committing all the federal fraud we hear of almost daily. Walz, Ellison, Omar should be the bare minimum. I want that money back in the coffers as well, plus interest, but I know that is asking too much at this point. No one is above the law except democrats.
