Shea Theodore was credited with a goal at 5:38 of the second overtime, avoiding what could have been a potentially devastating loss for the Golden Knights after they blew a four-goal lead, and Vegas defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 on Saturday night in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final. Vegas took a 2-1 series lead after Theodore's shot was gathered by Carolina forward Jordan Martinook who banked it in off goaltender Brandon Bussi's skate. Since Theodore was the last Golden Knight to touch the puck, he was awarded the goal.
"At that point, you are just trying to get anything to the net and hope you get a bounce," Theodore said. "And luckily, we got one."
It came long after Vegas star forward Mitch Marner had the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history, helping his team to a 4-0 second-period lead.

I asked AI what the record is….
In the NHL, the fastest three goals scored by the same team is 23 seconds, a record set in the playoffs by the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Atlanta Flames in Game 2 of their 1979 series.
The fastest three goals by a single team in the regular season is 21 seconds, famously scored by the Chicago Blackhawks against the New York Rangers in March 1952.
If you are curious, the all-time individual NHL record for the fastest three goals by one player (a natural hat trick) is 21 seconds, set by Chicago’s Bill Mosienko in that exact same 1952 game.
Check the last stat in bold…
Wow!
This is turning into a classic series.
So, a player had the fastest hat trick in NHL finals history, and you don’t think that rates?
Jagr stopped playing in the NHL in 2018, but he still plays pro hockey on his team in Czech Republic.
They could do a Six Degrees of Separation of Jaromir Jagr game, like The Kevin Bacon Game, LOL!
So series, it’s hugh!
Adds a whole new meaning to “Czeched into the boards”...
Bettman sucks...
Yeah cause Bettman is responsible for the snow belt losing population the last 30+ years. And responsible for Canadian teams being completely unwilling to actually build quality teams.
Meanwhile league revenue is the highest it’s ever been, they actually have multiple national TV contracts for the first time ever. And the rating are great... I mean for hockey. The Bettman sucks crowd really needs to get over it. You’re wrong, he’s done well.
