Wendy's announced that it will be testing something calling "dynamic pricing." Will you pay more for the same product?
Dynamic pricing at fast food restaurants means your favorite sandwich or chicken nuggets could cost more -- or less -- depending on what time of day you go. The busier the restaurant is, the more it'll cost you. Dynamic pricing is similar to the surge pricing model used on apps like Uber or Lyft, waltham forest where prices go up and down based on customer demand.
Food industry experts say dynamic pricing could soon take over the entire industry in the next few years as companies look to maximize sporting kc vs portland profits. Wendy's just happens to be the first major fast food chain to give it a test in the American market
In the final quarter of 2025, The Wendy's Company reports that same-store sales dipped a whopping 11.3% in the U.S., capping off a year that saw an overall reduction in sales of 5.6% in the U.S. and 3.5% globally. Right alongside these negative financials, Wendy's stock price took a battering over the same period. Shares were valued at over $16 at the beginning of 2025, but by the start of 2026 they had lost about half of their value, dropping down to just over $8. Evidence of the company's financial struggles extend beyond stock tickers and earnings reports, however, manifesting in ways that affect both consumers and employees.

2 1/2 year old “news” and the electronic menu boards will supposedly show “lowered prices during slow times”. Like the “end of the month” prices at new car dealers??
Booolsheet
How stupid !
No one including employees will keep it straight
Better idea, give loyalty points or something at those slower times
How many locations has Wendy closed recently? You can’t dynamically price a floundering product.
You’re not alone. Two Wendy’s + a Hardee’s closed recently. The Freddy’s that’s between these closures is now swamped at lunchtime.
We lost the last of our Hardee’s during CoVid. We used to have four. We lost our four Burger Kings late last year. We still have Whataburgers though and Mickey Dee’s.............
I agree. It 8s so much cheaper to eat at home.
Heck even if you buy frozen stuff from the supermarket and reheat it would be cheaper than fast food places yoday
It’s most likely some MBA, perhaps private equity pushing for this.
Private equity is destroying the American economy imho
Instead of trying to maximize your profits perhaps you should focus on keeping your customers happy
“If you say “half priced drinks during slow times” (ie “happy hour”) everybody thinks it’s awesome.”
Yes
The closest Whatburger has Patrick Mahomes as an operating partner.
Good for him! He’s a smart dude! Not wasting his money of bling and entourages...........
You boomers are so behind.
Doordash , Ubereats, Favor already do this.
It’s Friday night you want food delivered there is a premium not only on the delivery charge the food prices themselves are dynamic. Your $10 burger is $12 peak Friday night, and the delivery charge is $5 vs 1 or zero too. The price you pay on doordash is not what the walk in price is at all it’s always $1-4 more per item built in.
Youngers pay for convenience simply don’t care it a want and you have the disposable income to cover it so who cares don’t be a poor.
Wendy’s is simply getting in the game. Most of their sales is delivery apps and takeaway so why not get in on it.
My wife doesn’t blink at a $10 upcharge for food she wants in 15 min vs 1.5 hours not that I would either. Wendys is not goy slop we would eat but Perry’s is at least a $10 upcharge on Friday night for doordash after 7.
Wendy’s was my go to lunch spot when I lived in Texas. Closest place to the office. It was good. A baked potato, bowl of chili, and two garden salads cost about 6 bucks
I’m a xillenial not a boomer.
I refuse to pay for food delivery. Either I go out and eat it or I cook or I pick it up myself
“I love how businesses take stuff away from you or make it worse and then call it an improvement.”
That’s my pet peeve about Microsoft. Every time there’s an “upgrade”, my productivity decreases and my frustration increases. ARRRRGH!
I wouldn’t go to Wendy’s if it was free. Except for a frosty. 😏
America got screwed by Walmart. We lost all the other grocery stores to bankruptcy and such. We have a bunch of Johnston’s Grocery stores around here in NE AL. They are higher but are well stocked. Walmart barely carries any types of canned beans anymore. Johnson’s has them all.
I've never had a frosty. The best place here for a milkshake is Arby's. I don't eat their food, but their chocolate shakes are pretty good.
