The show was first announced with a series order in November 2025. It hailed from writer, executive producer, and showrunner Martin Gero, who was a writer on 'Stargate SG-1' and 'Stargate: Atlantis' early in his career.
According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Amazon execs were concerned that Gero's take on the series would not have broad appeal beyond the franchise's already dedicated fanbase.
Still seeking that elusive mOdErn aUdiEnce! Instead, Amazon is thinking of handing the series to "someone who does not have history with it and would give it a fresh new perspective."

That always means "make it wimpy, effeminate, and gay".
Anyone who isn’t a white heterosexual biological male.
In SGU the stones where the only plot device that could tie a group of people trapped billions of light years away on a ship that had been at FTL for 50+ million years outside humans visible universe to have “contact” with earth for the plot to involve the SGC command and those characters. The gay Asian was a minor side arc, there was much more same sex shenanigans with occupied bodies. The two leading male colonels banging the same woman who was the wife of one of them and was already having an affair with the other got swapped and then the stones swapped them back temporarily so each got to be in the others body while actively banging the wife that’s how one found out about the others infidelity. The ultimate space cuck set up.
I have seen every episode of every season of all the franchises.
This press release means they are going woke for sure. Sad it was a great idea and the story arcs have so much potential left. I mean you have tech that can jump not only galaxy’s at will but universes they routinely jumped muliverse to alternative universes plural, and have time travel at will capability too. Literally unlimited story arcs across space, time and the multiverse.
Woke mind virus will ruin anything it infects .
Fortunately AI is democratizing media , fans can make high quality content and there is little anyone can do about it other than sue for copyrights. Which is a bad look but hey mind virus is well mind virus.
My thoughts exactly.
No, that chick from Wicked! LOL!
That was the producers' excuse. They could have used a "super magic" telephone but that would preclude the "justified" homosexual behavior.
It was already diverse. All the actors were Canadians.
Have they learned NOTHING?
The “old” perspective was why is was such a long lived show with as many spin-offs as it had.
Lemme guess, tranny Goa’uld trying to get the rest of them to treat them as their “preferred” orientation? Larval symbiote drag Queen shows? Girl Boss Queen come to bring peace to the galaxy?
SGU sucked. It was a crap ripoff off Battlestar Galactica. They wanted a rougher, grittier Stargate. Total fail didn’t even last a season.
SG-1 and Atlantis were both excellent.
>>>>Don Lemon will play Teal’c.
>>No, that chick from Wicked! LOL!
Only if Ellen Page turns the role down first.
great!! like here in the US, the white girls all goo goo over the black guys in movies. Only over there, they are arabs who the white girls find most trustworthy. its so obvious its ridiculous!!!
I seen SG-1 and Atlantis... and your comment gave me a peace knowing I havent missed anything since...
Like the Goa’uld entering their host via the rear end.
Amazon approved! A new perspective by the showrunner!
Why not just come up with a new idea/series instead of crapping all over an existing one?
Give "Riverworld" another try. And keep truer to the books. (the made for tv movie from the 90's was just awful). So much material to work with and you don't need a lot of special effects - just a river and some cheap sets along its banks.
You are correct that it is being produced in the UK. Here’s a news headline mentioning it.
