CHICAGO — Valerie Jarrett has gone from friend, confidante and special senior advisor to Barack Obama during his two terms in office to CEO of the Obama Foundation.
And with less than a month to go, she’s about to witness the birth of the Obama Presidential Center. The 19.3-acre campus in Chicago’s Jackson Park neighborhood is set to open to the public June 19.
“It exceeds my wildest expectations. I think we’ve really done a great job. We worked with the community to help us on the design and the jobs and the feel,” she said. “I think people will feel at home here.”
It took 10 years from start to finish to make the center happen.
But the center did not come without controversy. Critics didn’t like the architectural design. Some say the $830 million dollar project will cause home prices to rise. Others scoff at the traffic issues it will bring.
From taxpayer burdens to land use, it’s seen it’s share of debate.
“I would welcome all those folks to come and visit the campus and see for themselves what it looks like,” Jarrett said. “There were those who didn’t want us to build in a park, cross lanes of traffic. I think for those who were critical, they would say, ‘Wow!’”
Jarrett says part of the theme throughout the museum is stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. She says it will give people the incentive to affect the kind of change they want to see in America.

Probably the ugliest building I have ever seen....
The BIMBO eruption begins.
It took the slob 10 years to walk to the south side of Chicago? Where the hell did she come from? The Taco and Margarita Bar along Darien Gap?

You can’t make things that ugly over nite. Just look at who’s all thrilled about It. They ain’t no spring chickens
Bunch of anti-American scum.
White people are not allowed to enter?
Yep, it’s fugly and won’t age well from there.
Totally appropriate for the fugly woman.
She should be “reflecting“ from the inside of a prison cell.
But we’re too busy at war with Iran at the moment.
To be fair, if they were going for the Nazi flak tower look, they nailed it.
If there was justice Valeria Jarret would be reflecting her past from Leavenworth. She was an evil person and is such today. Unfortunately she was probably off the scale smart. Thus her quiet success.

Val Jar is one scary thing.
Seriuously, I thought it looks like a flak tower too.
Appropriately, it looks like a supermax federal prison.
