Gas prices sink as oil set for 20% drop — largest one-month decline since 2020

Prices at gas pumps are starting to sink and oil is on track to drop 20% in May — its largest one-month decline since 2020 — as investors remain optimistic that a deal to end the Iran war is near.

As of Friday, national average gasoline prices had eased to $4.39 a gallon, according to AAA. That’s about 17 cents lower than the 2026 peak price of $4.56 a gallon – though it’s still nearly 50% higher than pre-war prices.

Brent crude oil had fallen 1.3% to $91.51 a barrel as of about 2:50 p.m. ET Friday. The global benchmark was poised to fall about 20% from its 2026 peak.

West Texas Intermediate crude dropped 1.9% to $87.19 Friday, and was also looking at a 19% monthly drop for the month.

The benchmarks plunged Thursday after the White House confirmed that US and Iranian negotiators have reached a potential agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route for 20% of the world’s oil that has been largely blocked off for months.

Oil prices continued to fall Friday after President Trump posted on Truth Social that he would be meeting in the Situation Room “to make a final determination” on the deal.

That’s where competitive market pressure enters the equation.

Candace Owens, et tu?

Lots of members here actually know me in real life - from the FR cruises, numerous protests, range time, having dinner at my house... on each others social media etc. Those same people know I voted for him 3 times and met with him when I had dinner at his home in Mar a Lago.

So no - not Candace.

Gas is being diluted with more ethanol. This is why prices may be going lower.

Grow up and deal with it. We are Empire.

‘Deal with’ the burgeoning debt empire brings.

‘Deal with’ the inflation the debt creation fosters.

History shows what happens to a Republic that embraces empire and inflation to ‘afford it’. They grow weak, not up.

Instead of bequeathing future generations with liberty, the boomers are bequeathing a nation buried under the slavery of a debt burden that only grows to support their delusions and lifestyle.

“If someone knew that the market was “poised to drop 20%,” they could short the market and make a killing.”

Brent crude started at about $70 before and went to about $126.00 a barrel after we and Israel started hammering Iran. Yesterday, it closed at $91.12.

Another 20% drop would put it under $73 - or close to where it began. I’m good with how things are going.

I totally see where you’re coming from. In many ways, I feel the exact same way. Our Constitution is in SHREDS!

What did *I* do about it? I educated myself and made paying in the most minimal amounts of confiscatory taxes that support Mother Government at any level. I started this in my early 20’s, when I was just starting out in life.

I broke no laws. I was never audited in all of my income-earning years and I had some pretty fat ones along the way! I lived BELOW my means and didn’t buy every, ‘ New, New Thing’ society and advertisers said I had to have. I learned EVERY trick there is to saving money and invested what I saved in tax-sheltered vehicles.

It would behoove you to educate your family on these practices. Starve The Beast!

I did a search for you to show you some ideas I’ve used through the years:

https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=how+to+legally+avoid+taxes&atb=v393-1&ia=web

It DOES take DISCIPLINE and PLANNING and FORWARD thinking, but I retired, Debt Free, at age 56 ten years ago. It can be done. And taking ANY steps to thwart the STUPIDITY and UNETHICAL behavior that comes out of ANY Congress will make you feel like you are conning the game - the one that’s been played against us all for so long!

And if you were just bitchin’ for the sake of it, feel free to disregard previous transmission! :)

Trumps fault.

Yes, Trump chose to start this war without the authorization of Congress. He should be impeached and our constitutional Republic restored.
Trump won the presidency TWICE by denouncing our fruitless foreign wars, and once in power he has bent his knee to foreign powers. He works for the Epstein class, and if you dispute it check who his son just married.
George Carlin had it right. It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it.
