The U.S. Postal Service reached a multiyear deal with DHL eCommerce for last-mile parcel delivery services in the United States expected to be worth more than $10 billion.
He said DHL either had "to invest a ton of capital to build out an end-to-end network, or they need to partner with someone that has that last mile capability" like USPS.
The deal is critical to the financially strapped USPS. Amazon.com said it had reached a new agreement with the U.S. Postal Service on package deliveries

Umm... no
the annual average wage for USPS workers is hardly the problem
people are complaining about 64K-68K when AI Gemini sez, in part:
“the median for full-time, year-round workers is $63,360.”
Put another way. the mid-range of the USPS wages that you cited, $66,000, is only 4.1% above the USA median annual earnings for a full-time worker.
The U.S. median annual household income is $83,730.
The median annual earnings for all individual workers is $51,370
the median for full-time, year-round workers is $63,360.
Breakdown by Worker TypeAll workers (15+ with earnings): $51,370Full-time, year-round workers: $63,360
Complaining about overstaffing vs. griping about $100000 with OT pay. I don’t miss my time in that environment.
DHL is the worst. An Indian run company.
“what gives?”
Efficiency
I thought this was already being done by UPS to be honest with you. Maybe it’s just a new deal? or supplemental?
DHL is the former Deutsche Post...formerly owned by the German Govt, now a private company.
The salient point is what skills the worker brings to a job.
Knowing how to read would seem to be a very minimal skill...... to be employed......anywhere.
DHL eCommerce in the U.S. is a unit of the German-based DHL Group. While part of a German group, it operates a significant U.S. domestic network, with regional offices in Weston, FL, and 22+ distribution centers across the country. They focus on B2C parcel delivery and recently signed a massive 2026 contract with the U.S. Postal Service for "last-mile" delivery, making them deeply embedded in American logistics.Although the company was founded in San Francisco in 1969, it was acquired by the German mail authority (Deutsche Bundespost) years ago.
how can a company survive on promised 2-3 day delivery when it takes them 2 weeks to complete said delivery. if priority mail takes that long, junk mail must have been mailed last year to get here today.
UPS/Fedex 2 day delivery is 3 times as much in most cases. but..
it gets there on time.
Me too, but I've been seeing them everywhere lately.
They’ve been contracting with the USPS for years.
Nothing new. I used to get packages from UPS that came to Memphis, then turned over to the USPS for delivery.
I got an idea. Abolish the post office and allow DHL, FedEx and UPS handle the mail.
Overstaffing would be a big problem. I also noticed that postal employees also make a good deal more than I did as a skilled mechanic in the years I worked. Retired now, so it’s a little hard comparing apples to oranges.
A big problem I had with USPS resulted several years ago. I had a notice in the box that there was a package for my father who had recently passed away so I could pick it up. Had no idea what it was or if money was paid out for it. I was told they could not find it, but the employee who DID know was out, but would be back in a couple of days. He came back, but sent the package back to the sender. Never did find out what it was.
USPS overstaffing is a big problem and postal employees -——with no
discernible skills make a good deal more than a skilled educated mechanic
Had a big problem with USPS many years ago. Got a notice in my mail box that I would have to pickup a package at the local P.O. Went to get it, they couldn’t find it & said the one employee who knew where it was would be back in a couple days. Went back & the clown who knew where it was had apparently mailed it back to the sender. It was a package my recently deceased father had coming & I had no idea what it was, or if it was paid for or what. Thanks to one employee. Never did find out anything on it. I was hopping mad over that.
Bingo!
No. It’s time to quit the post office. DHL will give us the packages to deliver they can’t make money on. It’s what FedEx and UPS have done already.
