A Virginia high school graduation descended into chaos when a spectator rushed the stage and attacked a student who was walking to receive his diploma.
Evan J. Williams Jr., 20, was arrested Thursday and charged with disorderly conduct and damage to private property in connection with the brawl that broke out during John Marshall High School’s graduation ceremony at Virginia Commonwealth University, according to police.
A 12-second viral video of the violence posted on Facebook shows the moment several attendees began to fight on the students’ special day in front of shocked family members just before 11 a.m. Wednesday at the school’s Siegel Center.
At least four university police officers are seen rushing toward the front of the stage to break up the melee, as other audience members jump in to join the fracas or scramble to help stop it.
Several more altercations broke out outside the Siegel Center as police worked to break up the initial fight and clear the venue.

“principals were evaluated on reducing suspensions. They would get bonuses for doing that”
Good grief what a wrong headed notion....that’s just asking for trouble. SMH
The kids who don’t care if they get suspended hold everyone else hostage.
We had a case of an autistic girl who was being bullied by a Special Ed student. The school denied it until a student posted a video to Instagram. The school spent all their resources trying to find who released the video. Being Appalachia, all people involved were white.
We have little thugs playing the “kick the door in” game. Someone finally got a video of them. All white. There are 1,800 people in this town. Everyone knows the thugs. Children of single moms in the trailer park.
It dumbed down every expectation for academic excellence across the board. In fact, you were not ALLOWED to excel at the risk of highlighting the disparity.
White people with money in eastern NC send their kids to private schools or academies.
I avoid them in public and they get angry at me. Panhandlers frequently ask me for money where they have no business asking for money. I have hardened myself against them and public opinion on my hardness. I don’t care. Just keep me, my loved ones, and my property as far away from “them” as possible.
“Amazing no one broke out a nine with an extended clip.”

Good one.
consider it progress it wasn’t a mass shooting.
Bottom Quintile = urban democrats
My BIL was one of the ones bussed TO a black school, which was about 10% white after the busing. He and his brother didn’t eat or drink until they got home because “it was as much as your life was worth to enter a bathroom”! He also said a white guy picking up a basketball while at school would have put the guy in a hospital. Or morgue.
I'm guessing that the Siegel Center wasn't named recently, then.
This was my Junior High School experience exactly. I was bussed 1.5 hours one way to an inner city, formerly all-black school. 1973-74, deep south industrial city. The building was a converted hosiery mill. None of the staff wanted to be there, and little was done to keep order. My history “teacher” was functionally illiterate. It was an exceptionally dangerous environment.
I learned then and there what the reality vs. the feel-good blather about diversity is.
So true. I think that speaks for allowing islam in a nation too. Once they get hold of that quintile, you deal with their bs.
In Richmond, they’re entering in the 3rd quintile.
