'Contrary to rumor, Morris Day & the Time will not be performing at the "Great American State Fair."'
The Commodores subsequently announced that they would not be performing at Freedom 250.
'Our music has always been our voice and we choose not to publicly affiliate with any single political party,' the funk act said in a statement on Instagram. 'We support the betterment of all Americans.'
Country music hitmaker Martina McBride also joined the list of cancellations on Thursday.
'I was presented with an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event but that turned out to be misleading,' McBride wrote in an Instagram post, adding that she had 'asked lots of questions and was assured this was a nonpartisan event that was meant to celebrate ALL 50 states.

All those bands a pretty lame.
I have been thinking about the root cause of TDS and why it affects so many women. I believe the initial acute inflammation began with the statement that being rich and famous made it possible to grab women by the...genitals. Instantly, half the country had to deny that truth or their whole make believe world would crumble.
And Ed Norton introducing each song with the opening lines of Swanee River.
They do. At the Kennedy Center, Presidents always came to the Honors event and it was never an issue until Trump came. Meanwhile, the past Chairman of the Board, Micheal Rubinstein, bankrolled Biden for years and invited him to his Narthas Vineyard home for Thanksgivibg every year. But, maybe that is the correct partisanship.
Back when people actually knew what Communism is.
The current lineup of The Commodores (as of 2025–2026) is led by original member William “WAK” King (trumpet) and features Brent Carter (vocals), along with Cody Orange and Colin Orange (sons of founding member Walter “Clyde” Orange). This quartet is supported by their five-piece backing band, The Mean Machine.
I am betting that the musician wanted to make a political statement and the contract was written in a way that there was financial liability if the artist went off script
I’ll take Lee greenwood, and Wheel out The Beach Boys
That’s a big part of it. I got into an argument with a woman a few years ago that said his comment made her shake violently and cry.
I asked her why the focus wasn’t more on why women essentially make themselves willing prostitutes for rich and famous men.
The conversation didn’t go much further after that, and I got to witness her shaking violently and crying firsthand. It was actually kind of scary. It shows why Trump is successfully demonized by the media.
In olden days, a glimpse of stocking
Was looked on as something shocking.
But now, God knows,
Anything goes.
He'll have to perform his free-form jazz exploration.
and Wheel out The Beach Boys
Don’t tell James Watt.
That's them. You can smell the sulfur . . .
Who would have thought that celebrating America’s 250 birthday would publicly “ affiliate with any single political party”.
The Commodores just insulted over half of their aging fan base.
EC
Too late for the Beach Boys, but I’ll take any group that replicates their music...
Miami Sound Machine. They’re anti-Castro but pro Obama. Pro freedom too. Gloria Estephan has put on some weight.
“Engulfed in chaos”
Yep, you can bet that the Daily Mail has accurately exposed the problem. Yes sir.
And Martina McBride has forever tarnished her brand by misreading the room.
There is a lot of incredible talent in America. People of all ages and stripes who have great voices, great bands etc that are not part of the Hollyweird scene.
Maybe they should put the word out for some great tryouts to perform for this made up of real Americans who just love to sing and perform.
We don’t need the nasty spoiled people there anyway.
I doubt that Martina McBride and the Cancellers would draw much of a crowd anyway. It’s nice to see has beens pulling out.
