👋 Hello,

Ready for a mental workout? 🧠 A Cryptogram is a classic quotation puzzle frequently featured in daily publications. I source the best and most challenging ones to help keep our minds sharp and boost cognitive health!

🧩 How the Cryptogram Works

In a Cryptogram, a single letter always stands for another letter.

(Example: AXYDLBAAXR might translate to LONGFELLOW. This is just an example and does not apply to today’s puzzle.)

If this is your first time, don’t be intimidated—the game is very addictive, and you will quickly master the technique! If you find yourself stumped, simply take a break and return to it later.

📋 Instructions & Community Etiquette

Please follow these guidelines for the best experience for everyone:

💡 Post a Clever Clue

Feel free to post a fun or clever clue—the more tangential to the quotation the better! Just remember that your clue must not contain the actual words of the solved quote.

Good luck, and enjoy the challenge! 🍀

I was stumped for a bit because I thought the first two words should be one word.

I very much enjoy this author. He and his brother wrote a book called "The King's English", in 1908, and revised it a couple of times. He treats Americanisms as a special class of foreign words, and is generally opposed to their use, mostly for the reasons he opposes the use of foreign words in general. He is, after all, writing about the King's English. But he does defend Americanisms from unwarranted criticism, and points out that some Americanism are simply older British expressions. However, injecting them in British writing imposes a burden on an English reader unfamiliar with them.

Mark Twain could not be reached for comment.

Thank you for the insight. I'm sure he's a fine author. I just saw a chance to get in a little dig and couldn't resist.

Keep on FReepin' on.

No offense taken, believe me. I just enjoy today’s author, especially his observation that “utilize” is usually merely a pretentious long word for “use”. He is scathing.
