New York is strong-arming 18 industrial-scale solar power plants into rural communities across the state despite strong opposition from locals.
Schuylerville farmer Alexandra Fasulo had just settled into the idyllic acreage she purchased in 2023 when Gov. Kathy Hochul’s bulldozers came roaring in, poised to thrash 1,800 acres of protected grassland to build a 100-megawatt-capacity solar energy complex in nearby Fort Edward, NY.
Worried that chemical runoff and contamination may affect her farm, Fasulo attended a town meeting last fall to voice concerns to developers and state authorities.
“We were like serfs coming before a king. It was so much worse than I ever imagined,” Fasulo, 33, told The Post.
“There was nearly unanimous opposition to this project. So, I thought it wouldn’t go through. That’s how representative democracy works, right? Wrong.”
New York’s green energy mandate went into effect with 2019’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), which requires 70 percent of statewide electricity to come from “renewable” sources; a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to 40 percent below 1990 levels; and at least 3,000 megawatts of energy storage capacity.
All this is supposed to happen by the year 2030 — but the deadline keeps getting pushed back.
To accomplish her Herculean green feat, Hochul set up the Office of Renewable Energy Siting and Electric Transmission (ORES) — an agency charged with getting the projects rammed through by cutting red tape, torching environmental impact reports and squashing local pushback.

the homeless will use them as shelter
The Hailstorms will love those panels
NIMBYs.
Serfs coming before a DEMOCRAT.
Amazing
Solar panels in NY weather
Just plain stupid
Whear are the windmills?
These projects are put together by people that have no clue what they are doing
The citizens will likely lose. Big business and government almost always wins and lives another day to repeat their control on the populace.
That was yesterday.
The NY rulers: "Finally, finally the fools are getting it."
RE: That was yesterday.
“Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.”
Haven’t thought about that in years.
What about from dusk to dawn?
What about cloudy days?
What about when the collectors are snow covered?
Those inanimate blots on the states naturally beauty and productivity are just warts, wanted only by political power-grabbers unwilling to live next to them, or to gain any food or enjoyment from them.
What their economy needs is separating the five borough/counties and populace into a single gepphysical/political province, isolating the country-ignorant city-dwellers to drug'shoot/beat/abort themselves in their own grounds, and allowing the huge remainder of the geography with the its acreage-rich remaining citizenry to govern themselves to their own benefit.
.
“NIMBYs”
Schuylerville is no where near NYC, very much Northern NY State. Therefore good chance many folks are right of center and have some common sense and never voted for this $hit.
+1
A 100 MW solar farm only produces at Rated Levels from 10AM to 4PM on average.
So, if you want 100 MW 24 hours a day - you have to build FOUR! And, you need 1800 MWH of batteries.
