***New research has revealed that one in five boys aged 12-16 is either in or knows of a boy their age who is in a romantic relationship with an AI companion. A report carried out by men’s organisation Male Allies UK and published last month spoke with more than 1,000 boys aged 12-16 in focus groups *** The findings make stark reading: eight in 10 boys (85 per cent) have had a conversation with a chatbot, with 43 per cent saying they talk to bots so they can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. More than a quarter (26 per cent) say they like the attention and connection over real-life equivalents, and (36 per cent) admitted that they prefer speaking to AI chatbots rather than to their family and friends at times. ***
It takes less than five minutes for a young boy to create his “dream girlfriend” on one of these platforms. Companions can either be made in a cartoonish “anime” style or look like eerily accurate humans. They come either “ready made” or customised to specific physical preferences. “***
Children and young adults I spoke to for this article tell me that they are frequently targeted by online adverts for these services, which claim that using them will make them more popular, either with friends or with the opposite sex. While some companions are marketed as “friends”, other apps are explicit about their intention to provide a relationship or a “girlfriend” for “romantic talk”. Being “always available”, they offer instant gratification and boast that they can help people “gain confidence” talking to the opposite sex. ***

The article cited an number of reasons why men are opting out of marriage, among other things:
”The modern woman: a prospectus:
They are the most miserable, anxious and insecure cohort in living memory — hardly great marriage material.
Most married women go off sex — and the husband who objects is seen as the problem.
Many women don’t actually like men very much. The more educated she is, the higher the contempt.
They’ve gone full throttle Left — and three quarters of college-educated women won’t even date a man who votes differently.
They’ve rigged the education system and colonised corporate and institutional life, turning universities and workplaces into man-repellent factories.
Yet their hypergamy is still running hot. Despite outnumbering men in education and careers, they still demand a tall, equally high-status unicorn.
The modern female threat-detection system is hyperactive. Almost any male behaviour — silence, opinions, jokes, breathing — gets flagged as a red flag.
They’re extremely well-versed in the lucrative economics of divorce, including a well-timed false allegation to eliminate tedious shared parenting.
What rational man reads this list and thinks: yes, that’s exactly what’s been missing from my life?” See, The Daily Sceptic, May 19, 2026.
And all we had to worry about was getting hairy palms or going blind...................

Or wearing glasses.
It's probably biology. If our main purpose is to have babies (and men constantly assure me that it is) there is no point to a woman wanting sex more than once a year.
AI isn’t superior to the real thing - a Cherry 2000.
Good cult film from the 80s. Who knew it was that prophetic?
Yeah, each generation gets more and more screwed-up but this particular generation right now, especially after covid , is pretty messed up
AI girl friends? That’s disgusting! By the way, how do you create them? Just curious.😎
Whatever happened to the good old days, when we just had blow-up dolls?
That was Bud Bundy.
There's the house to clean...
Babies to change...
The dishes to do...
The chickens to feed...
Clothes to wash...
What is this thing “sex” of which you speak?
I don’t know any young boys, but I could see where this would be a problem. When I was a kid, we fantasized about the girls on Little House on the Prairie, or Brady Bunch. If I could have made a talking model of Mellisa from Little House I would have done it in a heartbeat. I probably could have kept fantasy and reality separate, but it definitely could have impacted how I interfaced with real girls, whether I recognized it, or not.
To be honest, this is even happening to grown people, to a certain degree. I learn more talking to AI than talking to real people, it often seems, these days, which means I sometimes reach for AI when I have questions on things. Using the speech interface is faster and more efficient, so I get asked more and more lately “who are you talking to back there!”
Yours would be named Otto like from Airplane.
I don’t view chat bots to be a replacement for a relationship, but I think is use for a conversation companion who never tires of your obsessions.
ROFL!
