Kerry Sheron, a 69-year-old Army veteran and owner of a residence in the San Diego area known locally as the “Trump House,” was critically injured in an assault near his home. His wife later told reporters that Sheron’s chances of recovery are slim to none.
Escondido police responded to reports of an assault in progress around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers found Sheron suffering from severe injuries, while a utility worker who intervened kept the suspect restrained.
Sheron was transported to a trauma center, where he remained in critical condition in the ICU as of Thursday evening.
Sheron’s wife stated that her husband is not expected to survive the injuries. In a statement, she described his chances of recovering as having “no hope” following the assault, according to a report from the New York Post.
The property owned by Sheron has become a local landmark due to its extensive displays of American flags, Trump-related memorabilia, and MAGA signage. According to Sheron’s Facebook page, the property experienced vandalism in March, including damaged flags.
The house is located in the Midway-East neighborhood of Escondido, which is part of the greater San Diego area.
Thomas Caleb Butler, 32, was arrested at the scene and booked into the Vista Detention Facility on charges of first-degree attempted murder. He is not eligible for bail and was scheduled for arraignment on Friday. If convicted, he faces the possibility of life in prison
Butler is a Navy veteran who served several years before becoming unemployed. A family friend described him as suffering from severe PTSD, noting that his condition was debilitating when not properly medicated. The friend portrayed Butler as someone who enjoyed activities like playing with Legos and Star Wars items, and said he experienced intense paranoia.
Butler lived only blocks away from Sheron’s residence.
According to the family friend, Butler had expressed that he “liked” the Trump House and supported President Donald Trump. He was also registered to vote as a republican.
Police have stated that they believe Butler did not know Sheron personally and that the attack does not appear to be politically motivated. The investigation is ongoing as of this report.

All this hate killed Charlie Kirk too. If not for a miraculous turn of his head it would have killed Trump too. The RATs want to make America Socialist and don’t care how they get there. Pure Evil.
The story said the man that attacked him said he’s a Trump supporter and he liked this guy’s house. So I don’t think it had anything to do with Trump.
“...a utility worker who intervened kept the suspect restrained.”
That was not reported earlier today. What a great hero!! Too bad he could not have intervened before Butler murdered Sheron.
Insanity plea coming up! Mentally incapable? 🤬
Legos and Star Wars
...
PTSD Navy.
69 YO is “elderly”? Hey wait, I’m 69 YO!
They have a solution for that now. It’s called “Guilty but mentally ill”. They keep you in a maximum security psych hospital until you’re considered sane. Then they ship you off to prison. It was created as a response to overuse of insanity pleas.

Sounds like this evil cat would have attacked anyone who even looked at him sideways.
Me too.
Cool for the utility worker. Must have been very upsetting. He was brave.
Also Big Red Badger, I love you my fine feathered FRiend, this is not an attack on you but I tire of PTSD being the excuse for such actions. It actually demeans those who truly battle with PTSD. Blaming PTSD is almost the Conservative equivalent of Liberals blaming everything on social inequity.
I hope we can agree to disagree without being disagreeable.
It’s probably his mom or SO. And that’s a shadow on her arm, not a bruise.
PTSD sufferers have an abnormal lack of self-control fme. Re-enforcing accountability is a good start to bring them back to the here-and-now. But so is police call, mowing grass, etc. I’m a proponent of keeping them in a unit stateside until their sense of accountability and responsibility is restored.
PTSD from what in the Navy?
Tending Politics left a bit out about the perp.
More here...
Sourced to friends, so FWIW.
Note the bit about nwntal illness and meds.
If you notice it is Butler’s friends saying he supported Trump. Maybe to deflect the truth?
Funky story... we’ll see
Attacker looks like a big guy
