New York lawmakers are debating whether to offer a sweet taxpayer-funded wedding gift to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, The Post has learned.

State Assembly Democrats on Tuesday discussed adding a $250,000 item in New York’s overdue budget to provide security for the Swift-Kelce nuptials, which will take place in the Big Apple on July 3.

Discussions centered on whether to use state troopers to provide security for the wealthy, celebrity power couple, who can afford to pay for their own protection.

A source familiar with the deliberations noted that Swift has long criticized President Trump, and the two have publicly feuded.

lawmakers are debating ...

The logic is that if they all agree on the criminal act (malfeasance/theft), it is no longer a criminal act.

What is the deal with this Taylor Swift? She is totally average. Go into any town in flyover
country, stop by the Walmart checkout counters. You will find a Taylor Swift behind every cash
register. After Taylor squeezes out a couple of pups, she will permanently chub up and that will
be that.

Police security for major events is a legitimate area for discussion.

Don’t misunderstand me. The Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce wedding shouldn’t be a major event. They should stand up in church somewhere, tie the knot, and fly off to somebody’s private island.

But still ... there are plenty of precedents regarding police presence at events that draw large crowds. If the people running NYC have any sense — that’s a rhetorical question — they would have the police run off the list of the last 200 crowd events they’ve handled.

Just follow the precedents.
