GRAPEVINE, Texas โ Grapevine police have arrested the driver of a Tesla Cybertruck who went into Grapevine Lake Monday night.
Police said just before 8 p.m. Monday, officers were called to Katie's Woods Park Boat Ramp, where a Tesla Cybertruck was in the water, near the shore.
According to a press release, the driver told officers he intentionally drove into the lake to use the vehicle's "Wade Mode" feature. The truck became disabled and started taking on water.
Everyone in the truck was able to get out safely before the Grapevine Fire Department Water Rescue Team helped get the truck out of the lake.
The driver, who was not identified by police, was arrested and charged with operation of a vehicle in a closed section of park/lake, no valid boat registration, and numerous water safety equipment violations. He remains jailed, according to police.

If Ted Kennedy had had one of these...................
He should have put it in swim mode.
As God as my witness, I thought Teslas could float.

10 seconds on Grok would have saved this guy a lot of grief. Hold muh beer while I grok...
No, Tesla Cybertrucks are not designed to float like a boat. They have a Wade Mode for driving through shallow water (up to ~31-32 inches / ~815 mm from the bottom of the tire, not exceeding the top of the bumper), but that’s for fording, not buoyancy or open-water travel
Wade in the water
Wade in the water children
They should cite him for illegal fishing practices: electrocuting all the fish.
Is it an EV or is it a whale demolition?
Wade Mode, LOL. Elon should send him some money for infringement.
Maybe if you squint a little while thinking about the Navy's new stealth ships.

I was wondering the same thing. Any experts here that can answer that?
Do you think alcohol was involved??
According to a press release, the driver told officers he intentionally drove into the lake to use the vehicle’s “Wade Mode” feature. The truck became disabled and started taking on water. Always wanted to try that.

Not an expert, but have studied some.
The batteries are watertight. Problems happen when the battery housing is punctured.
Salt water does no more damage in the short term. Leave it submerged a long time or don't get it all out and everything will be screwed.
Isn’t it something that my links for What’s Up Doc and the VW TV ad were on the other thread today? Ambulance goes Off Whard....
Two driving into the water vehicle stories. Weird trend.
