I currently have a credit union account I’ve had for 20 years. Within the last year they are scamming us members with this SAVVY MONEY crap. Back in November my account started to get emails welcoming me. They claim I signed up. Had to threaten credit union managers to get rid of this invasion of my trust. Then in Feburary I had to reset my wife’s password online. Within 30 minutes, she started getting the welcome messages. It took 3 heads to roll to stop this. What can be done ? This is Florida SACFCU.

From what I gather, they provide aggressive marketing services for financial institutions.

Does your account have 2FA...and do you/can you use a separate email for financial biz?
Haven’t you heard? The new business paradigm is “the customer is always wrong.”
You obviously signed a release allowing your personal information to be shared.
Your probably didn’t read the fine print years ago.
Call the CU and as how to rescind it.
Remember that you are a shareholder of the CU & if the management is not responsive to your concerns, you have the right to take it to the board of directors. There is also a required annual membership meeting where you can speak if you are not being heard with your other approaches.
“Your trusted partner for institutional growth and consumer engagement.”
That is their sales point. My point is I am member of a CU because I like being with a neighborhood organization. That was true when I joined 30 years ago. Over the past ten years, there has been a mania at my CU to gobble up other unions to become larger. Over that time, I noted a downward shift in the hours open, former free checking no longer, lower competitive interest rates on savings, and a new trend to push financial products. I told the manager if I want a broker, I call schwab.
we got emamil from saavy too
it asked if we had just closed a financial account
but
we closed that account at least 6 months ago.
so we figured their service was way way too slow to be of any value to us. there are other services that report changes to you MUCH faster
Ouch.
Overall it’s claimed they rate 3 stars, but I only see 1-star reviews blasting their erroneous credit score reporting.
Do.
Not.
Want.
This just happened with my CU, one day I open the website and there’s a new name and logo.
Dude, are they holding a gun to your head to stay with them? Find another institution. there are plenty of them out there.
This is my guess on what is happening. Small credit unions and banks can't afford to meet compliance measures so they merge.
Every institution is a identity risk. Closing one and going to another only doubles my exposure. Your data is never wiped just because you close an account. It’s like the web, your personal info is everywhere once you let them have it.
There is NO ERASING or DELETING IT.
At age 70 you just stop running to avoid stuff. With govt checks going in direct deposit. Changing is a pain. And these outfits know people find it a pain to move.
