A St. Paul traffic stop got a lot more dangerous when someone in the back seat pulled a loaded gun.
Especially, since the one pulling it was a toddler. The toddler pulled it out of the diaper bag.
A St. Paul man is facing gross misdemeanor charges after a toddler allegedly pulled a loaded handgun from a diaper bag during a traffic stop in Saint Paul, according to a criminal complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court.https://t.co/moXEFRY9L6— Limitless Media (@LimitlessNewsMN) May 14, 2026
CBS News has the details:
Charges say officers pulled the man over on Thomas Avenue near Galtier Street in St. Paul because he was not wearing a seat belt. The man admitted to the officer that he did not have a driver's license and apologized for not wearing his seat belt.
Police learned the man had warrants for his arrest, and he was taken into custody.
There were three kids in the back seat of the car, all of them under the age of 3, according to the complaint. Another officer noticed one of the children was not properly buckled and was crying. A second child climbed to a diaper bag on the floorboard to grab a tissue for their sibling with a runny nose. That's when the child turned toward the officer, holding a handgun.
This is the part of the story where people start wondering what the officer did.
Are we going to have to turn to the bodycam footage?
Is this another George Floyd story about to set the country ablaze?
No!
And do you know why?
The officer had the child put the gun down on the car seat and recovered it.
That's right. Even a toddler knows that when a police officer says, "drop the weapon," you comply.
The officer found six rounds in the magazine after checking the gun. The driver acknowledged the gun was his and that he hid it in the diaper bag when he got pulled over.
Needless to say, he's facing one count each of endangerment of child by firearm access and carrying a pistol without a permit.

Cops had every reason to put guy in custody but I bet the bag was under the drivers control until he was ordered out of the vehicle.
To many people are past the crazy mode and into the feral zone
>>Needless to say, he’s facing one count each of endangerment of child by firearm access and carrying a pistol without a permit.
As long as the toddler was practicing good trigger and muzzle discipline, those extra charges should be dropped.
They allow guns in Minnesooota? Who knew?
That’s the sad truth.
It’s surprising, I know.
“Little bastard shot me in the ass!”
Get a child under 3 manipulate a firearm? If the child cannot and I question how the kid have been endangered and I see dropped it on his foot or hit his brother with it
Agree
Where else would he pull it out of? Some of these answers really do need to be included in the story.
His diaper?..............
Good grief, you forgot your sarcasm tag. Because there’s no way you could actually think that way.
Toddler: Do you feel lucky?

Hey, Day-school is brutal!
Day-school=- sheesh, meant PRE-School
I’m wondering, did the toddler have a license for the gun? 😀
Could have been worse, he could have pulled a loaded diaper out of a gun case.
