'What I’m doing with Comics Unleashed, we don’t talk about politics. We don’t talk about anything that’s topical,' Allen told CNN's Michael Smerconish.
'We don’t do anything that’s racist or sexist or antisemitic or homophobic. Just be funny and don’t offend.'

That'll go over big. - Don Rickles
Jonathan Harshman Winters III. Give me somebody like him and I might watch a bit.
Craig Ferguson would have been great.
Offensive stuff is the funniest. What is the point of having enemies if you can’t mock them? (Draw Mohammed Day , May 20 , in three days, be there!)
As in libel law, actual malice is what matters. The comics on Byron Allen’s show make fun of their own backgrounds — Jewish, Italian, Black, Appalachia, Latino. The assumption is that everybody can do that and nobody takes offense.
Kinda hard to avoid the politics where the jokes write themselves. Carson didn’t avoid it but he was nonjudgemental.
There’s nothing wrong with poking fun at politicians. Just be funny and don’t pick sides. No one tunes in at the end of their day to be lectured on the evils of conservatism and capitalism. Constantly calling Trump a nazi while holding up the likes of Obama, Biden, Pelosi and “the squad” as near deities isn’t funny. Using a show that is supposed to entertain as a political soap box isn’t funny.
Same with “racial” content. If done right, it can be funny. But a black or mexican comedian attacking white people isn’t any funnier than a white comedian attacking blacks or mexicans. Almost all of the best racial humor is self deprecating, with a few rare exceptions like Dave Chappelle, who makes fun of everybody.
Carson did plenty of political jokes... But they were subtle and he joked about both Republicans and Democrats... He didn’t play favorites or convey his bias... Something these fools on late night shows today can’t help themselves from doing... We don’t care what your politics are... Just shut up and be funny without preaching and being judgmental.
Way ahead of ya’.
I have respect for Byron Allen. He was a stand up comic, appeared on Carson, and built a big time media company. He even bought the Weather Channel, though I don’t know if he owns it still.
He also was the executive producer of the 2017 movie “Chappaquiddick”, that told the story of Ted Kennedy killing a girl.
Byron Allen also sued Al Sharpton and other racists like Al Sharpton for trying to suppress black voices in media.
Byron Allen may not be perfect, but he is a man who deserves respect.
Yep, I always thought he seemed to be a decent guy.
We need more comedians like Rodney Dangerfiels and Joan Rivers
And Ben Bankas.
💯
Blacks will call him a “race traitor”.
Big time.
It would be nice
How about a promise of no dancing medical equipment?
