I've been a FReeper since 1997. I'm also one of the tech guys for The Gateway Pundit and other websites.
As a way to support both sites, I created a Free Republic share button for TGP. FR doesn't appear to have a logo, so I styled the share button after this site's favicon. You can see it by clicking to an article; it's to the right of the Linked In share button:
So ... is this cool, a subtle way to remind TGP readers of the value and relevance of FR and to make sharing posts on FR a bit simpler? Or is it unhelpful?

Cool, but it’s hard to figure out.
I’d put FR under the star or even “FreeRepublic” even if a bit too small print.
As it is, I’d never know.

Right, I did evaluate that as I worked on the button styling. But there’s nothing I was able to draw from it in creating the share button. The fonts are generic, the resolution is low and pixelated, the drop shadows and embossing are kinda dated, the eagle and flag are too complex.
I’m not criticizing it. I’m just thinking it could use an update.

Not to be picky but why didn’t you use a >FR< instead of a star? It’s just that a star could mean anything and has little to nothing that represents Freerepublic.

Awesome idea.
Execution? The star is not great, honestly. I’d do “FR” or something easier to grasp.

I’m not criticizing it. I’m just thinking it could use an update. That's legit. As to a tab logo or share button, a simple five-point star on the red and blue background with FR on top would definitely suffice.
