After years of construction and anticipation, Metro’s long-awaited D Line extension officially opened to passengers Friday morning, giving riders a faster connection between downtown Los Angeles and Beverly Hills.
The newly opened stretch adds three underground stations along Wilshire Boulevard: Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega.
Metro officials say the expanded route can take riders from downtown Los Angeles to Beverly Hills in about 20 minutes, dramatically cutting down commute times through one of the region’s busiest traffic corridors.

What could possibly go wrong?
Beverly Hills, that’s where I want to be
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
Game over.
I guess not.
This will make it easier for the Beverly Hills people to get to and from work, a big boost for the Beverly Hills crowd, I hope the fare isn’t too high.
They should have a ceremony at the hospital for the first passenger assaulted and slashed on the route. Historic.
I predict new crime stats to be covered up.
Meantime, Georgetown in DC still doesn’t regret keeping DC Metro from putting a station there. They knew what would happen.
Looting Rodeo Drive in twenty minutes...nineteen...eighteen...
After reading the replies here, all I can say is GMTA.
Yep. And the first violent home invasion.
In the 1990’s I worked at Flower Street in downtown L.A. Downtown was great but getting out west was a chore during the day. This extension is 20 years too late to save L.A.
and the homeless will use it to shoot up meth. Its a total eyesore, the construction for this craziness has been going on for YEARS..and of course Karen Bass had to show up today since its an election year “Here let me show up and pretend I give two craps about the folks vote for me”
For now it only goes to La Cienaga/Wilshire which is the starting point in Beverly Hills, the rest has not been built yet not sure about the fare but its free for this weekend
Arm up.
“What could possibly go wrong?”
Ever see the movie Daylight? And putting an underground railroad on an historically active earthquake fault is a write off. The Rock better warm up his helicopter so he can get to the backhoe.

Who the hell wants to go to downtown LA?... Ick!!
What was the original cost estimate? What was the final cost? What was the original timeline? How long did it actually take to build?
Finally, these people have waited long enough.
