“I’m quite convinced that it can’t be that every Senate Republican read the language of this bill, and I’m going to just read you one excerpt of it, because it’s pretty alarming, and it says everything that you need to know.”

Mask off moment.

Speaker Mike Johnson QUESTIONS whether Senate Republicans actually read the bill they passed to the House before heading on recess.

Johnson then turned to the cameras and read a jaw-dropping section aloud for the media.

JOHNSON: “This gambit that was done last night is a JOKE.”

“I’m quite convinced that it can’t be that every Senate Republican read the language of this bill, and I’m going to just read you one excerpt of it, because it’s pretty alarming, and it says everything that you need to know.”

“In section four…this is on page two of the bill….”

“It says, ‘The contents printed under the headings of this bill, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and border security operations under the heading of US Customs and Border Patrol and Protection shall have no force or effect for purposes of this act and amounts specified in the final bill under the subheading border security operation, and under the heading U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and under the headings of US Immigration and Customs enforcement, in the Department of Homeland Security shall be...ZERO.’”

“We’re not doing that.”

i would be surprised if members of the senate and the house read and understood even 10% of the bills they approve.

Well, be kind.

Some of the words have 2 or more sylables.

And some of the words have more than 2 letters.

They are stuffing their pockets for the time they will leave the country undercover. Should be investigated and jailed after being thrown out of office. Jailed till they are 90 years old.

I wonder how many of the Republicans read the bill and understood it and still voted for it?

Why are Dems writing these bills being they are in the minority? They should have no authority now that they're all sitting at the kid's table.

Thune is either a phony backstabber, or stupid beyond redemption.

Either way, it's time for new leadership in the Senate.

Nothing to see here.. Same as it ever was.... Promote a bill to do something , that does nothing. Much like Congressional hearings. A tempest in a teacup... Film at 11 will explain it all to those that truly believe.....

The bill in question is a Senate Bill delivered to the House, before the Senate went on recess. Johnson is the Speaker of the House. Not Johnson’s Watch.

Thune is the Senate Majority Leader, and it is under his watch that this was passed.

There are some ancient punishments that need to be revived for certain politicians. Public whippings just might be one of them & I think there are enough public minded citizens willing to administer the punishment for little or maybe no pay. Betting that something like a good horsewhipping would maybe solve some of our problems. It’s high time it is tried. Any lawyer or judge objecting should maybe get a little of the same. I’d like to see this put into a bill.

So this drivel was passed by the Senate and we don’t even get a translation? Who’s in charge here any way. This sounds like something from file 13. What a waste of paper.
