Experts suggest this mind-boggling quarantine period for MV Hondius passengers facing terrifying hantavirus outbreak (8 weeks)

Distraught passengers onboard the stranded MV Hondius could face quarantine for up to eight weeks, a health expert warned Tuesday – as officials scrambled to contain a deadly hantavirus outbreak on the cruise liner.

“I’m sure people are isolated or quarantined in their rooms or cabins, but unfortunately, that quarantine period can take up to eight weeks,” New Jersey-based emergency medicine physician Sampson Davis told The Post. “The virus usually has a quick onset, but it can linger up to about eight weeks before it has an impact.”

Hantavirus is typically only spread through rodent droppings, but one rare strain, the Andes virus, can spread between people and carries a 40% mortality rate – and it’s likely the culprit behind the outbreak, which has killed three passengers and sickened at least seven others, the World Health Organization said Tuesday.

The possibility gained traction after no evidence of rodents were found onboard the Dutch vessel, which set sail on March 20. The Andes virus is only found in parts of Chile and Argentina, though not in the Argentinian region where the weeks-long voyage began.

Medical teams boarded the ship, anchored off Cape Verde, to treat two infected crew members and test other symptomatic passengers Tuesday, according to WHO epidemic and pandemic preparedness director Maria Van Kerkhove.

With no clear rodent source, Davis said investigators must determine what links the infected passengers.

“There has to be some sort of commonality that took place with these individuals,” he said.

Doctors also stressed that fully disinfecting the ship is critical and explained that there is no cure for hantavirus – symptoms can only be treated.

No desire to go on a cruise. Even less so after stories like this.

I get images of Anthony Fauci saying eight weeks and after four weeks saying two weeks should be enough and that ivermectin and vitamin D will be of no help whatsoever and that the idea that this came from a lab in Wuhan is ridiculous.

Bullshit … I say passengers take the ship, enslave the crew and sail for better ports!

This is basically the South American version of our hantavirus. Human to human transmission was first reported in 1996 according to Wikipedia. Allegedly, if online videos are to be believed, it is more likely to spread human to human than our flavor of it.

There are a very few Americans on this ship. That’s not to say that the RATs won’t try to use it in some way to cheat.

There’s an 8-week incubation period, so watch them conveniently find an infected person here October 1.

I was doing AI research on the hantavirus. It turns out that it is very similar to COVID-19 in that it attacks the endothelial cells in the inner walls of of blood vessels, but it doesn't bind with the ACE2 receptors - it binds with the αvβ3 (the vitronectin receptor) on endothelial cells — this is the dominant entry point driving vascular pathology. This, too, leads to oxidative stress.

The other difference is that while COVID-19 has a 3-5 day incubation period before symptoms occur, hantavirus has a 1-5 week gestation period.

The strain of the hantavirus that is infecting the cruise ship passengers is the Andes strain, which can be transmitted person-to-person.

This suggests to me (and AI concurs) that the same treatment for COVID-19 would work with hantavirus:

  1. Quercetin + Zinc to inhibit RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), the replication of the RNA in the infected cell. This slows down the spead of the virus during its dormant period.

  2. Vitamin C increases the effectiveness of quercetin as a zinc ionophor.

  3. Vitamin D3 treats the inflammation of the endothelial cells.

  4. NAC produces glutathione and prevents oxidative stress.

If someone thinks they were exposed to the hantavirus, they should begin this regimen immediately.

The caution is that once the hantavirus expresses itself, the impacts are much more severe and quicker than COVID-19.

Once they doc” in Spain they gonna let all the non Spanish go home via commercial flights you would assume. This is very dumb. Every person on that ship should be isolated at a military base for the full 8 weeks of incubation. Have the bio warfare experts keep tabs on them. Ask USARIID to send peeps.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/5/6/canary-islands-refuses-to-allow-mv-hondius-with-hantavirus-to-dock

“Spain’s health minister said that the MV Hondius, with nearly 150 people on board, is expected to dock in Spain’s Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, within three days, adding that those still on board were not presenting any symptoms of the disease.

Once in Tenerife, if they are still healthy, all non-Spanish citizens will be repatriated to their countries, Monica Garcia told a press conference in Madrid.”

The local island prez says no but Spanish officials are going to force them anyways
