California politics gets even carzier.
Unlike previous elections for governor, California’s primary is now not based on party preference. Instead, out of whatever field of candidates is on the ballot, the top two vote-getters will face off in November. This was intended to eliminate Republicans from ever being governor -- since the top two would almost always be Democrats. Funny how the poet Robert Burns’ reference to “Best laid plans” comes to mind.
Today’s Sample Ballot, courtesy of my county’s Registrar of Voters, has 63 gubernatorial candidates -- with about a dozen being Republicans. Many of the others are keeping their party affiliations secret. Much attention is being focused on the few at the top of the opinion polls -- while the possibility of November’s election being between two Republicans continues to loom over the process.
The collapse of the Eric Swalwell candidacy helped to winnow down the Democrat field; thus, incrementally improving the Democrats’ outlook. And, speaking of Swalwell, before his behavioral issues came to light, his eligibility to hold his seat in Congress, let alone be governor of California, came into serious doubt when it came to light that he claimed his Maryland home to be his primary residence so as to get a discount on his mortgage. Many other congress-critters are also likely to be performing this form of lender fraud -- as well as undermining their eligibility to hold office.
Meanwhile, the remaining batch of Democrat gubernatorial wannabes are not really much to write home about. They are almost entirely running against Trump instead of against each other. What the “drive-by” media fail to notice is that, since things have obviously gotten worse for the state, ruling party incumbency has become seriously threatened. Add to that the quality -- or rather the lack thereof

Wow, 63 candidates. Maybe they should have boxing matches to eliminate 3/4 of the candidates.
Jungle primary? Sounds racist.
Dueling pistols at twenty paces............
"carzier" .. when "crazier" just doesn't express the insanity.
Carzier - The new term for the anger felt when Californians must take out a loan to fill up their gas tanks.

"That's one carzy move, Gene. He
didn't get that from the Learing Center."
Let's see... Those people don't want to say they are in the AMERICA FIRST PARTY, am I correct?? 🤣
More likely they are to the left of Lenin, so that's why they keep their party a secret!!
I’m voting for Bianco. Hopefully there’s enough of us to get them to finish 1-2. Should one of the rats get in it’s over. Imagine 2 republicans going at it for 5 months. I can’t. They either hold off on the insults until October or schedule a series of Lincoln/Douglas style debates where the rat exposure is the main theme. We’ll see.
Trump’s justice department should look into irregularities starting June 3.
Now they are talking about changing the “jungle primary”, but just for this election. This means they are starting to panic a bit.
IMO, the end result will be Tom Steyer (D) and Steve Hilton (R).
As a (D), Steyer will win the governorship.
