We may already have access to a bountiful, safe supply of clean energy
American Thinker ^ | 05/03/2026 | Jerold Levoritz

Here is the unvarnished truth that has been kept secret by the choices of important people. At present population levels, there may be more than enough energy in the world for the next 100,000 years (maybe for millions of years) that is relatively easy to obtain, clean, and safe, and that would be productive of peace among men, because there would be fewer fights over resources.

The fuel of the future is thorium, and it is being withheld from the world because too few people know about it to demand it—and there’s no reason for this ignorance. Why the secrecy?

While positive for ordinary folks, thorium could ruin everything for important people who make their living from dealing with the consequences of conflict based on energy resources. What, then, would the bureaucrats, the military, and academics do to put bread on their tables?

With the implementation of a thorium-based economy, people and energy-hungry AI utilities would coexist without competing for limited electrical power. In a sense, we could have our cake and eat it too. And, as a bonus, we could stop consuming some of the rare resources of our only planet.

For all the foregoing reasons and hopes, I would like to suggest to decision-makers in Washington that they seek out and support the work of Kirk Sorensen, a nuclear engineer who has been doggedly pushing liquid-fluoride-thorium reactors for more than fifteen years. The technology that he touts has been understood since the mid-1940s and was demonstrated in a working model in the mid-1950s and again in the 1960s before the government shut down the thorium project.

There are still unresolved scientific issues blocking our access, but most require engineering tweaks rather than entirely new science.

“No the proper units are MWh per hour”

Nope. MWh per hour is megawatts. A unit of power.

“Every second it is producing 3000 megawatts “

Every millisecond it is producing 3000 megawatts

Every minute it is producing 3000 megawatts

Every hour it is producing 3000 megawatts

...often wonder why someone like Elon Musk doesn't turn his attention and evident genius to developing solutions to energy production ...

We call it nuclear waste but the stuff has the potential for all kinds of neat inventions using it. Why has that not happened? Because nuclear radiation is very efficient at killing things.

It needs only tiny amounts of energy to kill you and it has enough energy to do that for centuries! So Governments here keep that from happening and I don't blame them from doing so. In space you have a different story .

In space you are surrounded by lethal natural radiation all the time. By necessity you have to monitor it and because space is mostly vacuum you have to live in protected man made enclosures. Creepy people doing creepy things with nuclear waste in space environments is not the same threat it is to us in our protected bubble of life we call Earth.

Musk has devoted his whole life to expanding Civilization into space .Once Civilization is established off planet the people there will invent all kinds of wonderful things using radioactive stuff . Musk is creating the very thing which will eventually solve our energy problems for centuries if not longer.

.... MWh per hour is megawatts. A unit of power.

The Watt is a unit of power. Joules per second. Multiply that by the time and you have the energy used.

“The Watt is a unit of power. Joules per second. Multiply that by the time and you have the energy used.”

But then you divided energy by time. That is power.

I multiplied power by the time. That cancels out the time factor and leaves the energy part all by itself.

“I multiplied power by the time. That cancels out the time factor and leaves the energy part all by itself.”

After you multiplied power by time you then divided by time leaving power.

I did specifically say: ”…Here is more information if you are interested…”

So I did try so save you from the requirement of having to explicitly state that it was too long to read, but you didn’t get far enough to see it…:) Sorry for the imposition!

It is an exciting time, no doubt. We should have been at this point decades ago, but better late than never.

We need at least one to two more conservative administrations to let this stuff get a foothold before the Leftists try the smother it in the cradle.

Such is the beauty of having Civilization spread into space. If you become fatigued with the cockroaches and other assorted two legged parasites eating away at your substance you can always move yourself further away from them!

I have a Maine Coon. Her father is a quadruple grand champion. Dandi is a BIG girl, who can leap from the floor to the top of a 6' cat condo. Then she climbs up on top of a nearby book cabinet and eventually (grrr!) jumps down on my head while I'm sitting on the couch.
