I drop some of these to my Dad. He looks at them for about two seconds and then just tells me the solution. His mind is just a bit different. Applied (without his knowledge) for Wheel of Fortune. Long wait list. But he’ll just glance up and solve the puzzle every time in about a second with no or maybe one letter given.

That makes me happy to hear about your dad. We’ve had a few people over the years who don’t use HAL or write out the puzzles and do them totally by sight. I’ve lost count on how many years we’ve been posting these. I started it, and now have three great helpers who post Monday thru Friday. A lot of people start their day with these.
