Born in 1913, Sister Francis Dominici Piscatella is the world's oldest nun, according to Guinness World Records.
On Sunday she celebrated her 113th birthday.
"I have given up counting my years," said Piscatella.
Piscatella joined the order of the Sisters of St. Dominic in Amityville in 1931 at the age of 17.
"I was a teacher and a Dominican sister, I had to show them that the fact I had half an arm couldn't in any way impede me in any way, there was nothing I couldn't do that a person with two hands could do," Piscatella said.
An accident in her childhood left part of her arm amputated, but she was determined to succeed as a nun. She would not only keep up with the sisters, she would go on to teach countless others.
The Sister has spent nine decades serving the church -- she taught high school students and was a professor at Molloy College for 52 years.

More power to ya, Sister!
I had a boss once who had one arm and he had really high blood pressure. Even if she had the same problem i think she’s managed it well. Good for her. Something to shoot for.

Amazing
When are people going to learn about these ‘oldest person’ profile stories?
They’re KILLERS! Never have one of these stories written about you - the curse will kill you within the year, count on it!
Except clap.
True. I've always said the same about special anniversary birthday parties for the elderly. I've warned my family not to do it, especially if one of them say "I'm thinking about having..."
After losing a couple elders to this curse, I had an aunt where the daughters were going to throw a party for her 60th. I figured that was young enough to avoid the curse. They rented a hall out and everything. She died of colon cancer that year.
I suspect part of it is a bit of depression. Since the younger folks are busy with their own lives, there is a certain lack of attention they get. Then, all of sudden, this big thing comes up where they are a celebrity. Then it all goes away and it's back to the doldrums. I think the only way out of that is the multi-generational living arrangement.
Dedicated to a life in service to God.
There is an amazing place waiting for her someday.
Even with only 1 arm could still wack you with a yardstick 3 times before you could blink
Mean. “What is the sound of one hand clapping?” Zen Buddhist master.
“Born in 1913, Sister Francis Dominici Piscatella is the world’s oldest nun, according to Guinness World Records.” You go Sister. I wonder what the secret to her longevity is?
Her secret to a long life...”Prayer, gratitude and silence.”
Pray 🙏
We were planning a big 100th birthday party for my grandmother, but she had her last heart attack about six weeks before her birthday, when she was out shoveling snow.
God bless her!
That's easy. Hold your four fingers together and flex them quickly so that they hit the base of the palm. Try it.
