PINEVILLE, La. - Police are investigating a Louisiana restaurant after officers discovered a deer believed to be roadkill stored in a freezer alongside food items intended for customers, authorities said.
Dig deeper:
The Pineville Police Department said the investigation began after officers learned of a viral social media post showing individuals skinning an animal behind a local restaurant.
On April 21, officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Cottingham Expressway after receiving a report that a restaurant employee had been seen skinning a dead animal.
When they arrived, officers found evidence suggesting the animal was a deer, which was believed to have been collected after being found dead along the roadside.
During the investigation, officers discovered the deer carcass stored in a freezer alongside other food items reportedly intended for customers at the restaurant.
What they're saying:
According to KALB, the incident happened at China Queen and the restaurant posted this note to its door.
"We apologize for the recent incident. The item involved was never intended to be served to customers, but it was improperly stored. It has been fully cleaned and sanitized. We are cooperating with health authorities and have corrected our procedures to ensure this does not happen again. Thank you for your understanding."

“The foods vary by province and are NOT like what you get at Americanized takeout places”
Same in Thailand and the American Thai restaurants I’ve been to.... but find a good Asian Grocery, there’s avlot of choice goodies in there.
Eating chicken Tandori outside my 🏨 in Bangkok on a beautiful evening reading your post, hoping it’s really chicken.
Guess that explains the hood ornament in my kung pao chicken...
I used to have a bumper sticker that read;
“I Break For Road Kill”
“After interrogating the waiter, we found out that “forcemeat” is a mixture of lean ground meat and fat and not a misspelling of “horse meat.””
Haha . Re: food I’m a guy who will try just about anything once . The raw deer sashimi I ate just the one time . Horse meat is really good and famous here in Kumamoto where we live . Horse meat is leaner, sweeter, and has more nutrients than beef plus has higher levels of iron, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids . along with lower fat and cholesterol.I can understand why some won’t eat it though as horses aren’t considered livestock .
Exactly. Wrap it in a Wonton; it’ll taste fine! ;)
Man behind counter who took my order: NUMBER 2!!
My Father in law used to stop for every kind of roadkill. Possums, turtles, you name it. And my sister in law, his daughter, once got the call in Ohio to pick up a roadkill deer because they were next on the list. Her husband was away so she picked the deer up and skinned it in their garage by herself. She was an emergency room nurse for years.
“I think twice cooked means nuke it just to be sure ;-)”
They’d have never caught it if it hadn’t been trying to hold on to that dam apple.

I haven’t had horse meat, but I have eaten kangaroo meat, which is probably healthier than beef because it’s leaner, but doesn’t taste as good. I often make spaghetti with ground buffalo meat.
When I was a kid, there was a butcher shop in town that sold horse meat, and we ate it any number of times, usually braised or in a stew. I liked it.
My little sister used to refer to twice cooked pork as “twice corked puke”.
So? I knew a woman in New Mexico who had permission from the Game and Fish commission to collect fresh road killed deer for food.
A little MSG and some sesame seed oil and you’re good to go.
Very true!
I’ve had kangaroo , too . Ostrich , crocodile , camel , etc...Just wanted to try once .
