Democratic Virginia state Sen. Lamont Bagby claimed Thursday that watching “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “The Andy Griffith Show” and “The Waltons” as a child taught him about rural America.
(snip)
“And listen, I almost took issue with the other side saying that we don’t understand [rural America],” Bagby said during the floor debate. “But I grew up watching ‘The Waltons,’ I grew up with Opie [the son of a sheriff played by Andy Griffith], I even watched the ‘Dukes of Hazzard.’ I think I know a little bit about rural America.”

I can fit you in sooner than you would probably like. Do you have insurance? I mean life insurance.🤔🤪
This jerk prolly voted for the redistricting plan.
Just listening to Bagby, you just know
he was a charter member of the Mickey Mouse Club.
I thought Dukes of Hazzard was racist. Why is he watching that? Maybe he needs to be sent to PC re-education camp and forced to watch Will and Grace and RuPaul’s Drag Race until he repents.
Gulp.......i do have life insurance......is that ok for someone of your eminent stature?
YOU may have thought Dukes of Hazzard was racist.
but to Bagby.... The Dukes were “playing his song.”
you forgot “The Jerk”, you jerk
Do you folks remember the whole “South Park Republicans” thing? Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the birth of the “Carter Country Democrats”!
No, but it would be a really good thing for your loved ones after I am done performing your brain surgery. LOL
I collect clocks because I enjoyed watching Grandfather Clock wake up on Kaptain Kangaroo.
So, does that mean I can say I understand black people because I saw one on Little Rascals?
I hope he did not watch Family Guy.
Retard.
Thanks so much for posting that OldHarbor. Not all the episodes are available on YouTube and I have been thinking of purchasing them from Amazon streaming. This is the best WW2 doc ever made. No PC just straight history. I find it fascinating to hear accounts from the actual guys that were there. For those that don’t know, this series came out in 1973 so they have interviews with many of the players including Karl Doenitz who was the Fuhrer after Hitler killed himself.
As for the guy in the OP, what a joke. I grew up in a small town in the middle of flyover country nowhere. Things were nothing like the rural TV shows. I turned 16 in 1980 and living where I did was awesome. I tell my friends who grew up in major metro areas that I wish they could have experienced it. I look back on my childhood with a lot of fondness and feel extremely lucky to have that experience.
It is a fantastic series. I see there were additional episodes added later which are included here. I have not seen those
I will do a rewatch of the series.
Brutal footage , frozen Russians in episode 2 after the Finns had cutoff their supply lines.
To understand contemporary rural America, Lamont must also watch State Fair, Deliverance, and Bone Tomahawk. Nothing is more genuine than a product of Hollywood.
Well, at least there’s that.
DAMNED LITTLE
That's hilarious!
I moved to VA years ago because VA was “safer.”. Joke was on me. This buffoon will be reelected until after he resumes room.temp.
Alas, a majority of VA.voters prefer personal debauchery combined with a totalotarian.welfare state that keeps them fed, watered, housed, and entertained. Responsible self governance is kust.too hard.
VA is controlled by the I95 corridor/beltway plus the college towns.
