NEW YORK (PIX11) – A local training fund and union are seeking eligible New York City residents to participate in paid training.
The Thomas Shortman Training, Scholarship and Safety Fund, a 32BJ training fund, is offering training to eligible New York City residents at no cost.
From May 4 through May 15, 2026, the fund will recruit 30 apprentices for training in multi-story window and building-surface cleaning, according to the New York State Department of Labor.
Only 300 applications will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis for 10 business days, or until all are issued.
Interested New Yorkers must obtain applications in person at the Thomas Shortman Training, Scholarship, and Safety Fund office at 25 West 18 Street. The offices are on the fourth floor, and applications can be picked up Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., according to the apprenticeship announcement.
According to data on the New York DOL website, apprentices who complete the training program can expect to earn $27.06 per hour for the first nine months of their apprenticeship. After completing the first nine months, New Yorkers can expect to earn $30.32 per hour.
After 18 months or upon completing training, workers can earn $35.22 per hour, plus additional earnings for overtime, according to DOL data.

I’ve seen posts here where companies are saying you’ll not get ahead without using AI but is AI making people very lazy ? If they make mistakes will the companies blame the worker or AI ? LOL
