A Las Vegas woman who mowed down a young father with her Tesla as he was crossing the street has begged his family for forgiveness in court.
Karen Cannon, 64, left pedestrian Patrick Deloria for dead after she struck him with her Tesla Model Y on May 13 last year and drove off.
She pled guilty to one count each of reckless driving resulting in death and attempt duty to stop at the scene of a crash involving death in January, court records show.
Cannon appeared in court for her sentencing hearing on Wednesday and sobbed as she asked Deloria's widow and family for forgiveness.
'It's unfortunate, I didn't mean for this to happen. I'm so sorry,' she cried, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. 'Please forgive me, please.'
His family, who were seated in the courtroom gallery, shouted back: 'No.'
Deloria, 32, was crossing a busy intersection when Cannon cut off another vehicle and hit him at speeds of around 66mph, an arrest warrant said.
The impact of the collision sent him flying approximately 155 feet into the air. Paramedics rushed to help, but Deloria was pronounced dead at the scene.

I didn’t see where he said he forgave her. Jesus was pretty clear on forgiveness.
In China she could be executed, due to that coverup. They also execute executives and bureaucrats for massive fraud. This is one thing they get right. T
Could be because she was rushing and Teslas can accelerate far faster than a gas car can in certain driving modes.
Forgiveness does not mean escaping temporal and eternal consequences. Jesus forgave the one repentant thief on the cross, but He didn’t tell the soldiers to then go ahead and take the repentant thief down and let him live.
People don’t understand justice makes forgiveness possible.
Jesus died for all our sins, first. Justice was served. First.
Jutice allows forgiveness.
True justice, not woke kumbaya justice where people escape actual consequences.
A price was always paid for forgiveness of sins. Forgiveness is not a get out of jail(no worries) free card. See sacrificial system Old Testament, and Sacrifice of Christ for our sins for more info.
Yes, it is an accessible gift, but it ain’t “free”. Anger and bitterness remains as long as there is no penalty to the perp.
If one thinks it is appropriate to let somebody go after
murdering someone...f’gedda boutit.
Fair point, but I think such comments should be directed at the judge.
She read the frikkin’ article??
I’m gonna report her to the mods.
God does not forgive you until you repent.
“particularly if the wrongdoer is sincere in their penitence.”
Read the article. She wasn’t sincere at all. In fact, she went to great lengths trying to cover it up.
