Paging Indiana Jones!
An American archeologist thinks he may know where the lost Ark of the Covenant is hidden, and is hoping to mount a search to find it.
Dr. Jones — err, Professor Chris McKinny — believes the Lost Ark may be waiting beneath the City of David, an archeological site just south of the Dome of the Rock which is considered to be one of the oldest sections of Jerusalem, the Daily Mail reported.
McKinny — an associate professor of biblical archeology at Lipscomb University in Tennessee — drew on biblical and historical texts to zero in on his hypothesis, and is hoping to deploy a high-tech device known as a muon detector to scan deep beneath the ground from the City of David to the Dome of the Rock to test his theory.
Muon detectors track subatomic particles that come from cosmic rays striking the atmosphere. The particles penetrate deep within the Earth, and allow people to map structures otherwise hidden beneath the ground.
Scans of the City of David have already revealed unexplored openings beneath the area, and the Ark — said to be plated in gold — would likely appear clearly on muon scans because of its gilded composition, according to McKinny.
The Ark has been missing since about 587 BCE when Jerusalem was sacked by the Babylonians, and the Ark’s keepers hid it to prevent it from being destroyed or falling into enemy hands.
Legend says the golden chest carried the tablets of the Ten Commandments given to Moses by God, and was used by the Israelites as both a tool of protection and a powerful weapon that could topple city walls or afflict enemies with deadly plagues.

Are there any large government warehouses in Newark?
You know, where the Top Men work?
It’s buried in a cave under the Nevada desert ...
being studied by “Top Men”.
I’m certain you are joking.
“...and is hoping to mount a search to find it...”
Translation - he wants money to go out and have fun playing in the dirt while getting his name in the news.
Satan as the antichrist will build a temple. It’s logical that he will ‘find’ the Ark, either a fake or the real one.
Can we be confident in that account, and that the ark was not recovered after it was hidden? Given the passage of time and the unsettled nature of that era, I think that other possibilities should be considered.
:=)
I think if I had a shekel for every treasure-hunter who thought he knew where the Ark is, I could finance the building of the third temple.
For most of the Christian world, including the Early Church, 2 Maccabees is inspired Scripture so there is some confidence in that. Even if it isn't it still reflects the tradition of at least some Jews living close to the time of Jesus. If one does accept it as inspired, like other Scripture we still would have to make sure we are interpreting it right. The fact that the writer mentions previous accounts of this is some evidence, though it would be nice if we had access to that or other corroborating evidence.
Given the passage of time and the unsettled nature of that era, I think that other possibilities should be considered.
Oh, I think so too, as long as it wasn't pure speculation without supporting biblical, literary or archaeological support.
This also goes for theories about the physical Ark's possible recovery. As I noted in my previous post, "Of course other scenarios are possible, but I don't know of any documentary or other evidence for them. According the account given in 2 Maccabees (which states that the account there was taken from other records, probably now lost to us), Jeremiah, when he hid the Ark and the other Temple implements in the cave on Mt. Nebo, set very specific conditions for when they would be found again." There is a possible spiritual fulfilment of the disposition of the Ark of the Covenants, but I'd rather not get into that on this thread.
Noah’s ark is NOT hidden. It’s right where its supposed to be.
Dr. Joel Klenck has assembled videos of inside the ark and the history that proves this is the ark.
If you found a wooden ship of the right type/age/materials/size on top of Mount Everest, would you not wonder how it could have gotten there other than a biblical flood?

Sorry, wrong ark. my post still true just about a different ark.
I was referring to the Ark of the Covenant, which is the topic of this thread.
So, they find it. What then?
The Ethiopian Coptic Church say they have it!

BS; attention grabber begging for grant money.
Muon detectors are placed BENEATH the object to be scanned, which means they would have to tunnel under the formation, negating the need for muon detectors in the first place - assuming the Turkish government would allow such a thing in the first place.
I thought that had already been found near Turkey.

Same one on Ararat. There are 3 mountains in the ME with the same name.
Opps, this post was supposed to be about Noah’s Ark on Mt Ararat where there is a similar claim and method of discovery.
