Multiple oil spills are visible from space after Iranian and US-Israeli strikes hit oil facilities and ships in the region, with experts warning of an impending environmental catastrophe.
Satellite images are giving an insight into destruction in the region, including to the fragile biodiversity of the Persian Gulf. Oil spilt there has the potential to affect the lives and livelihoods of people along the Gulf coastlines, as well as the region’s rich marine life...such as turtles, dolphins and whales that might ingest or become trapped in the oil. They could also potentially affect the filtering systems of desalination plants, on which nearly 100 million people in the region rely for clean water.

This is ecologically unacceptable! Iran better do something at once to stop this!!</s>
There are natural oil spills in the ocean when oil seeps through cracks in the ocean floor. They can be quite large and are pretty common. It happens often off the coast of California.
Have been wondering, the past few weeks, when we could have the Trump-hating climate weirdos start beating their drums over war-caused oil spills...
Yes, and so are license plates.
When did IDF and US start bombing oil carrying ships or hitting oil storage sites where leakage goes into the gulf?
I think the climate lunatics would have come out a long time ago.
They better start buying up Dawn Liquid.
We better let Iran get their nukes so this doesn’t happen any more!
These look very mild vs. Exxon Valdez et al.
Well, so were those in the Gulf of America and the east coast in WWII but there was nothing in space to see it.
ROFL!!! But some states only require one plate on a car, and not two. New York State, the nanny state requires two plates, front and back, and likes to gouge you a hefty price for new plates, then even more if you want a special license. That's why I still have the plates from my 2005 Altima, and have used them on the three past Nissan leases I've had. I don't care if the plates are weather worn. They suit the car just fine.
P.S. I worked in uniform in NY State's prison system for 25 years. I was first assigned to Auburn Prison in Auburn, NY. Auburn is where all the State's license plates and road signs are made. Back then, there was good overtime in the plate shop. They were very busy filling contracts from other states to make their plates and road signs. The inmates volunteered to work through the count and lunch time, because they made more money, and officers got overtime, because they had to confirm the inmates' whereabouts for the noon count, and supervise them while they were working. It was some of the easiest overtime I ever made. In those days, working in the plate shop was a privilege for an inmate, and for the most-part, long-timers with good behavior records were given those jobs.
Well Iran can’t properly handle oil, so it should give up, now.
Whatever happened to “One Nuclear Bomb Can Ruin Your Whole Day”.
With our satellites a nickel is visible from space
The La Brea tar pits are an ecological catastrophe.
We must remove all that oil from the ground and burn it to protect the environment
“...US-Israeli strikes hit oil facilities and ships in the region...”
Did either US or Israel hit oil tankers that were not docked at oil refineries or loading areas? To my knowledge, only the Iranians hit ships in the straits to include the fully loaded Kuwaiti crude oil tanker in Dubai waters. This is how you can trust CNN to spin things.

Still doom trolling? If you’re going to post an article at least give us the benefit of your wisdom and insight as to what it means with a @&% comment on it. You just post this leftist crap and let it hang there poisoning the well. Do you agree with this article or not?
I swear Gulf oysters were bigger and tastier after the Deep Water Horizon blowout. The gulf biosphere literally ate the oil.
Too bad they can't use it to find Mojtaba Khamenei.
Nature healed what man inflicted in 1979 Gulf spill Read more: June 10, 2010" "A lot of the fishermen around here will tell you that the fish never came back,'' says Vega Morales. ``They'll say, `Oh, in the old days, you could catch fish with your hat, it was so easy.' That's how we are, always talking about the one that got away. But the truth is, after maybe nine months or so, it was back to normal." " (Ixtoc 1)
"Soto, who followed the fish and shrimp population off Mexico closely, found to his surprise that for most species the numbers had returned to normal within two years."

Oil Cleanup Expert Comments on Gulf Spill
"Every year 2 million to 12 million tons of oil naturally seep from the ocean floor and into the sea. In fact, many of the deposits in the Gulf of Mexico were discovered by observing these oil seeps, which is why the hydrocarbon degraders are everywhere, waiting for their “dinner” or fuel. Fishermen should be prepared for the extra catches that are coming because after every major oil spill there’s an explosion of local fish."
"But before a fish explosion can happen, the microorganisms need to be able to get to the oil and digest it. Since oil and water don’t mix, adding a dispersant will accelerate the breakdown of the oil, making it more available to the microorganisms."

1979's Ixtoc oil well blowout in Gulf of Mexico has startling parallels to current disaster
"Even with those obstacles, fishers still managed to amass an impressive catch in 1979 -- when oil was gushing into the Gulf."
"Researchers in Campeche found shrimping that year enjoyed a high. The total tonnage of seafood caught in the Gulf of Mexico grew by 5.9 percent compared with the previous 12 months, and octopus capture in the Bay of Campeche beat the previous record by 50 percent."
"Tunnell's follow-up research into life near Texas beaches showed that organisms whose populations were apparently reduced by the massive spill replenished themselves within a few years."
