Airport lounges were once the destination of a select few. But recently, the premium spaces are becoming increasingly crowded — and chaos is following in some cases.
Stories are going viral about passengers raiding complimentary buffets in lounges, and children wreaking havoc while distracted parents are unfazed.
At one airport lounge in a major New York City airport not long ago, witnesses watched in shock as a couple ordered six signature burgers and multiple orders of buns, the "View from the Wing" blog reported.
Instead of eating the premium patties, the couple stuffed the burgers into a large duffel, adding desserts snatched from the buffet, the blog added.
Then, to conceal the heist, apparently, the couple stashed the greasy plates behind decorative planters, the blog noted.
... "The mores and norms associated with [airport lounges] have changed, and that stands out especially to those whose expectations are built on an earlier era," Leff said....
Another viral incident was captured by a photo of an airport lounge after young children seemed to wreak havoc there.

I have those same fond memories,
The grilled buttered bread with the steak smell, all permeating the room—it was beautiful.
i think they may have to implement a system using an entrance with a room keycard in order to eat breakfast there.
The article doesn’t mention any specifics. I haven’t flown since Covid but still carry a bunch if AA miles. The card I have has never let me into the AA Admirals club. You are looking at a ~$600+ yearly fee to gain access to the lounge.
People who annoy you.
I have access to the sapphire lounges through my credit card, but rarely am I at an airport long enough or in the right place to use them.
But about a year ago, I had a 4 hour + layover in an airport with one and I was actually in the right terminal. So I go over to use it... and they said.. 2 hour wait to get in! I am like! WTH! even with my long layover I didn’t have two hours to wait to even get in at that point. The whole thing is useless.
I noticed some of the lounges are beginning to make it more difficult and more expensive, hopefully that will do something to cut down on the wait times.
Set and enforce dress codes and conduct for passengers.
Raise ticket prices.
Drive ratchets back to buses.
These sure sound like slavery to me! (/liberal)
“The folks who once rode the train or Greyhound bus are now flying. Especially noticeable the Amish…”
An excellent point.
Stayed at a Double Tree by Hilton once.
Part of the booking was a complimentary 5pm happy hour every day. Beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres.
Only way to access the room was by your room key card....in this day and age, why the airlines couldn’t come up with something similar is beyond my understanding.
Okay, I’ve stashed a couple chocolate chip cookies to eat later, but which lounge does hamburgers to order?
totally useless, gutless article: “There are pictures of all of this, but we don’t have the guts to show them OR even publish links to them” ...
No, Greyhound has not kept up with trends and failed to embrace the new flying bus model air travel has become.
This looks like a case Yogi and Booboo need to investigate…
Heh, heh. Yes. Naggers.
LOL. Yea.
