As of early 2026, South Africa presents a textbook case of a failing state. In a chaotic break with civilization, it spirals inexorably downwards through synergistic failures of governance, infrastructure, and social cohesion. What was once heralded as the “rainbow nation” has devolved into a picture of systemic rot, where the post-apartheid promise of reconciliation, competence, and prosperity lies shattered under the weight of African National Congress (ANC) misrule.
Decades after the last session of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the noble intentions appear to be largely forgotten. What is more, they are actively repudiated by a political elite that weaponizes Marxist slogans to mask naked predation. The ANC has created a society hemorrhaging from every pore: sheer savagery rampant in robbery and sexual assault, the literal darkness of energy collapse, crumbling roads and public facilities, and a corrosive nepotism that elevates loyalty over merit.
Highlighting the advanced state of moral and institutional decay are nationwide hate campaigns against the white minority, with explicit calls for genocide resounding at political rallies—spectacles so egregious that they provoked an embarrassing Oval Office confrontation between President Donald Trump and South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa in May 2025. Arguably, the interlocking crises, far from accidental, are the predictable harvest of a “politics of envy” dressed up as egalitarianism, one that demands “enrichment without work” while eroding the very foundations of civilized order.
The material decay of South Africa is visible everywhere, a monument to decades of neglect, corruption, and incompetence. A Western-standard infrastructure, once the envy of the continent, now lies in ruins. Rail networks, ports, and water systems—indispensable to a modern economy—have atrophied under municipal insolvency and a refusal to prioritize maintenance. Local governments have become black holes of dysfunction, where allocated funds vanish into patronage networks rather than repairs.

I LOVE HOW FRAUD IS CALLED “PATRONAGE”.
Coming to America if or when the demographics shift just enough. Democrats have been working feverishly since 1965 to make it happen.
I understand the reasons given, but there may be additional reasons that augment the problem that aren’t stated in the article.
South Africa also has a huge illegals problem, because they are still light years ahead of the rest of the continent.
we should send a few million of our african americans to help them out.

Only wishful thinking delusionals would not have expected this.
Is there any country in the world run by blacks that is anything other than a shit hole?
And sadly the same thing is happening in some of our big US cities run by blacks.
If Jesus is black, I guarantee Heaven is a ghetto.
It is reverting to the average black African way of life. It may as well be a universal constant.
That’s how Apartheid was originally sold, the acknowledgement that black and European societies were different and incompatible, and yet black societies could still function as they always had, and there was a structure that worked for them.
But the problem is that wasn’t how Apartheid worked, the blacks were exploited for their labor in white-run companies, and then told to go back to their shanty towns. So they got a taste of the European society, but couldn’t enjoy its’ fruits.

Well, they can just move to Wakanda. I hear it’s a great place and the climate is nice this time of the year.
There are quite a few who having been there and seen it first hand have washed their hands of africa and walked away in disgust.
I recall one story about a village that got a new self sustaining solar powdered well to provide fresh clean water for drinking and crops.
In less then a year the farms started were abandoned, seed for crops eaten or sold. The water well was striped and anything of value sold.
And it was was NOT bandits or corrupt government minions.
The villagers who were very up front that they did it all them selves just basically said no problem the people from the un will be back with more.
Kofi wanted some new cloths, Kwame needed a new tire for his bike. Dembe needed money for a fine....and so on.
It's 2026 and that is why in africa they still live in mud huts....
I did not see this first hand and I was never there but just really read the news and you will see that everything posted here has happened in full or in part.
