I need opinions on Laravel programming

Posted on 04/16/2026 3:51:54 PM PDT by Jeff Chandler

I am starting a project and Laravel has been recommended to me. I have always used PHP. What are the advantages of Laravel, what are its best applications, and what might be superior to it.

Thanks! -Jeff

Umm... correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Laravel a PHP framework? Laravel is to PHP kinda like React, Vue, NextJS, etc is to Javascript. I’m not a Laravel user but I’m pretty sure it has baked in authentication, routing, data fetching and other goodies.

You can get Ai to learn other languages so that you don’t have to.

I apologize. thought you were being a jerk, but then I realized you misunderstood my intent. You thought I was asking people to do my research I was asking for opinions.

Self search is far easier then recommendations from bloggers.

i hate to say it but people aren’t directly coding at this point.

they’re using AIs (via agents) to do most of the work.

There are a bunch of PHP Frameworks out there. Laravel is pretty popular. They’re beyond me. An alternative is a CMS/Portal where you’re not starting from scratch. They’re somewhere between Laravel and WordPress. I’ve tried a few but always got stuck at a basic site because I’m not a coder.

SilverStripe, ProcessWire, MODX, TYPO3

Of those, TYPO3 seemed like the slickest one.

For straight up frameworks, Symphony is popular. Zend has become Laminas Project.
