LA authorities dramatically raise stakes in investigation of alleged Swalwell rape at West Hollywood hotel

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office has already assigned a prosecuting attorney to aid in the criminal investigation of a bombshell rape claim against disgraced former Rep. Eric Swalwell.

LA District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced the rare move after Lonna Drewes, 50, on Tuesday accused Swalwell of drugging, choking and raping her at a West Hollywood hotel in 2018.

Drewes delivered evidence to the West Hollywood sheriff’s station shortly after giving a press conference to announce the allegations, saying she has damning texts, photographs and journal entries that will prove the claims.

Representatives for LA Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed that deputies are investigating the claims.

Hochman’s office on Wednesday confirmed to The Post that it is already working with the LA Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau on the case.

“Our office has assigned our Sex Crimes Division to work closely with law enforcement partners as this investigation unfolds,” the DA’s office said in a statement.

“When and if a case is presented, seasoned prosecutors will review the facts and evidence to determine whether there is sufficient evidence for charges to be filed,” Hochman added.

Drewes, a former model who was pictured with Swalwell, said she believes he drugged and raped her the third time they met, when the two were supposed to go to a political event. She said the alleged attack occurred at the Montrose West Hollywood hotel on July 18, 2018.

That’s pretty offensive.

A girl should say no until she’s wearing a wedding ring. They call that virtue.

There may be safety in numbers, but as time goes by evidence is lost and any proof is compromised. (And as someone else noted, people are still damaged without proof in these cases, as Trump has been in the Carroll case. Nowadays, someone can wait 20 years and then destroy a man with mere accusations and no proof at all!)

Swallwell is a crude, disgusting person, but politics don’t change my principles in this. We’re been living for decades in an atmosphere where a completely innocent man can have his life destroyed because a woman just points a finger, and a corrupt political machine finds her lies useful.

“That’s pretty offensive.”
I’m not sure what you found offensive.

My wife came with baggage and I wanted to be sure
I wasn’t getting into something,
I could not be happy with.
I saw what my mother did to her many husbands.
I wasn’t going to let that happen to me.

Been married to my wife now for almost 49 years.
We cohabited, before I decided to marry her.
My Christian up bringing said that was a sin,
but so is gambling.
Marrying modern American women is a gamble.
I chose the the sin of cohabitation
over sin of gambling.

How do you prove they ‘slept’ their way to a role?

The same amount it takes to “prove” a male director guilty in public opinion.

They’d have to revoke awards going back more than a hundred years...

What’s offensive is that you expect girls to sleep around. Virtue shows that to be a false narrative.

There’s nothing in scripture that says gambling is a sin. There’s plenty of admonitions against adultery and fornication.

“There’s nothing in scripture that says gambling is a sin.”

You are very correct!

I confused the
“The Dangers of Greed”
as gambling.
Particularity in Timothy.

I’m just an Software and Electronics
engineer educated by
very religious people
(eg Jesuit and Protestant Christian
universities).

I don’t gamble, as I hate to lose and in
my work if I gamble people may die.
