The vile street takeovers afflicting Los Angeles are getting more and more violent, police say, and they expect things will only get worse heading into the summer.
Los Angeles cops swarmed more than 90 street takeovers already far in 2026, making at least 79 arrests, impounding 114 race cars, grabbing four stolen vehicles and seizing four firearms. At least five people were shot at LA county street takeovers this past weekend alone.
Cops say the illegal gatherings are getting more and more bloody — and with warmer weather coming, things will only get worse.
“There’s robberies, rapes, shootings, murders, stabbings,” said Sgt. Jesse Garcia, leader of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Street Racing Task Force.
“It’s only increased and gotten more violent, more boisterous and just more brazen,” he added.
Four people were shot early Sunday morning at a massive takeover in Rosemead, where Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a takeover at the intersection of Del Mar and Garvey avenues.
The deputies arrived too late to stop the shooting of the victims, including two teenagers.
Twenty-four hours later, deputies responded to a report of another street takeover at Compton and Gage Avenues in the Florence-Firestone area of South-Central LA.

Once I got within about a mile of the hotel I saw why

Thank you Bush family for the open borders and failure to roll back the democrats’ extreme diversity demands over the last 60 years. Now we all have to suffer. I blame the victims. In 1970 you could ask: “want to go out to my van and smoke some pot and have sex?” You might get a no but not a pair of handcuffs or a punch in the face that could not be returned.

Want to stop a lot of this? Kill the internet access. Require a license for a provider to allow access. Track down the origin of the organized gatherings. AND allow police to use the old “stop or I will shoot”

Well, I am really just blaming the change in society. Back in the day, there were plenty of promiscuous girls who fulfilled the needs of hormone driven young men. The thought of having to roofie or much worse forcibly continue sex with a girl was not part of sexual expression. Of course there were the duct tape kidnapping rapes but those have never been about sex. They are about violence and control.
Today, it is not safe for hormone driven young men to even ask for sex. So there is a new class of rape that is sort of difficult to classify. Getting really drunk or high with a girl and having sex is actually a two way street. There is often remorse on both sides. So is it rape when both parties are impaired?
