Fla. GOP rep plans to file motion to expel Eric Swalwell from Congress — following sexual assault allegations against Calif. governor candidate (Luna)

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) says she will force a House floor vote next week on removing embattled Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) from Congress following stunning sexual assault allegations against him – saying she won’t serve with “sexual deviants.”

Luna made the comment to Fox News on Saturday, a day after a former unidentified staffer said he sexually assaulted her on two occasions while she was intoxicated, including at a 2024 charity gala in New York.

“I hate having to be kind of the hall monitor of Congress if you will, but it’s gotten really bad,” she said. “Eric has the option. I’m going to bring this vote next week. If Democrats want to protect this type of garbage – I wouldn’t recommend it – but they’re going to be put on the board for that.”

“I am filing a motion to expel Eric Swalwell from Congress,” she simultaneously announced on X.

A motion to expel is considered privileged in the House – meaning Luna can compel lawmakers to vote up or down on Swalwell, who is a leading Democratic candidate for governor in the race to succeed Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Luna called for Swalwell’s alleged victims to present evidence to congressional offices “directly” as a way to counter Swalwell using campaign funds “to try to fight them out in court.”

Aides to Swalwell’s campaign have reportedly been bailing since the stunning allegations surfaced Friday.

House Speaker Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and other House leaders issued a statement Friday night on the “incredibly disturbing sexual assault accusations” and called for Swalwell to immediately end his campaign for governor, where he has been polling with front-runners.

Just a day and they’ll soon be rid of him and can bring out the cliche “let’s move on” like the Bill Clinton scandal that originated the saying and the group.

Keep him in office. They let Ilhan Omar stay. This isn’t fair.

I want him to politically and metaphorically twist slowly in the gallows wind.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi have effectively withdrawn their support for Rep. Eric Swalwell and called on him to end his campaign for California governor.Following allegations of sexual misconduct.

Both Jeffries and Pelosi joined a growing list of Democrats calling on Swalwell to abandon his gubernatorial bid.Pelosi’s Statement: Pelosi stated, “This extremely sensitive matter must be appropriately investigated with full transparency and accountability,” adding that she told Swalwell this should be done “outside of a gubernatorial campaign”.

Jeffries and other House Democratic leaders called for a “swift investigation” and declared the allegations, which include claims from a former aide, as “unacceptable”.

Other Defections: Longtime allies including Senator Adam Schiff and Representative Jimmy Gomez (who was his campaign co-chair) withdrew their endorsements, with Gomez calling on him to leave the race.

Fundraising Halt: ActBlue, the major Democratic fundraising platform, stopped accepting donations for his campaign.

On March 4, 2026, the U.S. House voted 357–65 to refer H.Res.1100, a resolution aimed at publicly releasing congressional sexual misconduct records,

Republicans: 175 Yea vs. 38 Nay
Democrats: 182 Yea vs. 27 Nay

Just sayin’

They were all happy to expel George Santos before any conviction.

If they were going to expel people from congress for sexual deviation then they wouldn’t have a quorum.

So... allegations are guilt. Especially if they're against a white man.

The Uniparty is in full swing on this one.

If Democrats want to protect this type of garbage

Exactly. Force the Dems to deal with him as a member of Congress for what they have brought up against him to dump him as a CA Gov candidate.

He represents everyone in his district.

It’s in everyone’s interest to see him moved out of Power.

Not to mention Taxpayer’s dollars.

Here is irony. While the groper deserves to be excommunicated from Congress, he will be replaced with basically the same thing. Perhaps there maybe some public relations benefits for the republicans, the reality is it doesn’t mean a damn thing.

As with all democrats, especially those from california, the illegal and immoral Behavior is inconsequential unless he gets caught. Remember, and this applies always to the left, guilt is not in the act committed, it is in getting caught for the act committed

Why help the Democrats out?

Make them do it - or make them defend him.

ROFL! I like her but that comment is stunningly naive... there are dozens of them in our aptly named “congress”.
