Men will be barred from using parts of an on-campus gym at the University of Southern California under a new initiative to make women and non-binary gym-goers feel more comfortable while working out.
The Student Assembly for Gender Empowerment (SAGE) pushed for the new rules in partnership with the Lyon Center, a recreational facility controlled by the university.
SAGE describes itself as a “programming assembly and intersectional feminist organization under the student government, committed to uplifting all voices oppressed by the patriarchy.”
The plan excludes men from working out in portions of the Robinson Room at the Lyon Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m., according to the Daily Trojan student newspaper.
Student Mengze Wu, a senior majoring in neuroscience, the moved is meant to address her discomfort working out in “men-dominated.”
“My past experiences with being in enclosed spaces where it’s very men-dominated have never been super pleasant,” Wu told the Daily Trojan. “There tends to be this problem where I don’t get to take up a lot of space unless I really assert myself. And even then, I face a lot of hindrance in feeling completely comfortable.”
Jana Alnajjar, a sophomore majoring in philosophy, politics, and law who acts as SAGE’s advocacy liaison, told the publication that she’s “heard from multiple women and non-binary students who want to be involved in different workout spaces but don’t feel comfortable being at the gym.”
“Whether it’s being approached regularly or feeling judged, over time that discomfort leads students to stop going to the gym altogether,” she added.

Wasn’t it Planet Fitness that tried to bar really fit men from wearing stringer shirts while working out because fat asses felt bad about themselves?
I don’t have a problem with women’s only areas in a gym as the occasional man is a creeper.
But I note they don’t have men only areas. Fair is fair.
FWiW, I’m a member of a gym that requires a combined lift goal of 1000lbs (bench, deadlift, squat) or 20 clean military full pull-ups (no partials). I think it has one woman member and she’s a professional mountain climber.

If they made a men’s only area in the gym (some) women would start wanting to access to that mens only space. The mens only space would be ruined, and after the passage of time, those same women would demand that men be excluded from that (originally men’s) area again. A new men’s area could be created, but it would start the cycle all over again.

Just get rid of all the mirrors so the stringer shirt wearing narcissists won't have anything to stare at.
As I read it, this is unenforceable. All any man who wants to enter the area has to do is say “I’m nonbinary”, and if they don’t let him in sue the pants off them.
If the 2XXs and their binary Late night TV amigos would start wearing burkas and keep their big mouths shut they wouldn’t be “uncomfortable.” We all know that their version of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the far-left RAT to total comfortability but it also says that they have to do their part to not piss off normal Americans all the time.
Men will be banned from gyms. Unless, of course, they claim to be women. Then they can not only go to the gym, but go into the changing room and be around naked women. Only in California.
