A Pennsylvania Uber driver woke up to a slithery surprise after picking up two passengers who attended a reptile show.
Officers from the Exeter Township Police Department in Berks County were called out Saturday after a local Uber driver found something unexpected in his car: a live ball python.
The driver said he picked up two passengers Friday night at a reptile show in Philadelphia.
During the ride, a passenger told the driver the contents of their bag had fallen out, and they wanted to look for it, but the driver had to keep moving. He later came home to Exeter and parked in his garage.
The following morning, the driver discovered the reptile in the trunk and called police.
Officers then secured the snake and brought it to a safe location.
The department said the call was "a little outside the usual."

Pfft......this kind of story is almost a daily occurrence in Florida.
Fla. is lousy with pythons and they’re not owned....they are wild.
Not to mention water moccasins and alligators.
That state is so dangerous I wouldn’t even visit there much less live there.
Unless I had an insane death wish that is.
I’m thinking there is a Jimmy Buffett song in there somewhere.
Louisiana and Florida are two reasons I will always live ABOVE the Mason-Dixson Line! ;)
Officers then secured the snake and brought it to a safe location.
The department said the call was “a little outside the usual.” I imagine so.
A well fed, frequently handled pet python is usually not aggressive, but there would be no way of the Uber driver knowing that, when he found the snake in his trunk.
“Have you eaten recently, Mr. Snake? Or didn’t those mice in my trunk fill you up enough?”
Florida is our Australia.
Ball Pythons are harmless and friendly and supposedly make good ‘pets’ if you’re into that kind of thing. I’ve held one that belonged to a friends daughter - and I’m NO snake lover.
Never understood birds or reptiles as pets - give me something furry and cuddly any day. :)
How do you leave behind a whole python?
“How do you leave behind a whole python?”
Exactly. Bits and pieces I could understand, but the whole thing?
Would have been a bit more if it had been a reticulated python.
Just try TN. All we have is rattle snakes, copperheads, bears, pumas, an an occasional python visiting from FL. Of coiurse, we also have the female human type cougars. And lots of us pack heat.
Ball pythons, well fed or not, rarely if ever bite. Their standard defense when encountering unfamiliar animals and people is to curl into a ball and hide their head (hence their name).
I’m a lifetime resident of Texas, and we have our share of snakes. But I often travel to Florida, I love it. Just have to wear high boots and watch your step...I don’t pay too much attention to gators unless they are really big. Then i give them plenty of space...
That’s a pretty snake. I’m a guy who loves reptiles. I even caught a rattle snake and had it as a “pet” as a kid. Never got bit. My current girlfriend..... not so much. I love the wriggly guys though. My favorite are the rubber boas that live up here in the PNW.
I will take a snake over those a hole snapping turtles or wild boars. (Lived in Wichita Falls a few years and hated every second of it. SAFB)

I hate those frs....
