During this process of dismantling and reconstruction, the mission identified a significant set of decorated blocks that had been reused in the construction of the gate. These materials, which display stylistic and epigraphic features characteristic of the reign of Amenhotep III, of the Eighteenth Dynasty, would originally have belonged to an older monumental entrance located at the same site...
Stratigraphic analysis reveals the existence of multiple building phases, some of which may date back to the Eighteenth Dynasty, while others correspond to the period of rule of Ramses III.

I finally finished reading the original, and what had seemed a little dull turned out to be a nice twofer. One of *those* topics.
A little off topic but I’ve never forgotten a documentary I saw many years ago about the mummy of Ramses being sent to France for forensic examination. He was received at the airport with the full state honors due a head of state. Don’t know why that’s stuck with me, but I thought it was appropriate and cool
