@ImtiazMadmood

Do you truly understand what Japan just gained? As a Japanese citizen, I’m telling you—this moment changed history.

Trump's Pearl Harbor joke wasn't an insult. It was the key that finally unlocked something buried deep in the Japanese soul.

For 80 long years, we've carried apology and guilt like a permanent shadow—haunted by the past, bound by the Constitution America wrote for us, forever in "reflection mode." He turned that raw wound into a shared laugh between equals.

No more endless atonement. No more vassal shadow.

The curse is broken. Japan is free now.
Thank you, Mr. President.

We're allowed to stand tall again—as true partners, not subordinates. The strongest alliance in the world is rising—equals, brothers, ride-or-die.

ransomnote: Here is the moment in which Trump jokingly asked a Japanese reporter, "Why didn't you tell us about Pearl Harbor?" and said he thought the Japanese know a lot about surprises.

First, I’m not so sure any Japanese person would be represented by someone with that name.

Secondly, we nuked them.

Japan hasn’t been living in a subservient shadow of the US riddled with guilt over Pearl Harbor.

Third, FDR - the worst president we ever had - knew about it. They disclosed that about 10 years ago

I saw the joke that way, it was the ice breaker, the ‘it’s not too soon anymore’ signal that enough time has passed, it is the way men talk when they are trying to put something behind them as the past, ‘let’s move on’ and joking means we have moved on.

Joking about something means the baggage is gone, in man speak.

I don’t think it was a joke. It was reality and common sense.

I have family members still alive today that had to hide in the phookin forests when those savages came around.

Nuke em again, just for the phook of it.

FWIW- China is gonna have a few things to say about what’s left of Japan after the Population Collapse fizzles them out.

Don’t lift a finger and pass the popcorn.

But it's racist! It's raaaaacist! It's raaaaaycest!!!

The left immediately jumps on that and acts like the fainting lady in the Polaner all fruit commercial when the guy says "Will you please pass the jelly?"

But they won't even bat an eyelash when it comes to US citizens being murdered by illegals. In fact they DEFEND the killer! And they want us to believe that what Trump said is offensive? There is nothing more offensive that THEM!

In 2018 I hosted fourteen Japanese businessmen in Virginia for meetings and workshops. We all work for the same Japanese company. Last day of their visit left us with an afternoon of leisure time and Dulles Int'l is 20 minutes away.

I proposed we have lunch locally and I would take them to the Nat'l Air & Space Museum on the airport grounds and say goodbye from there. They were delighted.

When we arrived and met together, the first plane they wanted to see was the Enola Gay. We spent over an hour in front of the Enola Gay as they took dozens of photos of each other at the display.

I was truly baffled, but it was explained in exactly the same way to me as an American. They embrace their past, acknowledge their sins and live to better themselves from that dark place in time.

Japan tried to send a declaration of war to Washington but it didn’t get there in time.

The Japanese embassy in DC got the 5000-word CODED message, along with instructions to deliver it to the White House 30 minutes before the start of the attack on Pearl Harbor. But it was so lengthy they couldn’t get it decoded in time.

We’re so quick to give Trump a pass for not alerting Iran that we were about to attack them but the Japanese at least made the effort, and Trump’s joke was historically ignorant.

I remember reading about when this happened, but I didn’t realize the cultural significance to the Japanese.

All over Japan, esp. in the older stores and restaurants, you’ll find a picture of a revered American they call: “MacArthur-son”....a picture of General Douglas MacArthur himself. Maybe we will see the new generation with pictures of “Trump-son”.

It was also a compliment in a way. Giving the Japanese credit for pulling off such a surprise attack. Grudging admiration is still admiration.

This actually makes a lot of sense. Making a joke about something that has been weighing on the conscience of Japan for 85 years is a signal that we see it as something in the past. I’m sure there was a lot of pearl-clutching over this, and it certainly could be seen as risky. But this is probably one of those times where Trump’s lack of a filter paid off.

Nobody "disclosed" that FDR knew about Pearl Harbor ahead of time. That's a lie.

We did think that an aggressive Japanese reaction to sanctions was likely, but there isn't anything showing we had advance knowledge of the coming air attacks against Pearl. Simply not true.

The Japanese are, by a wide margin, every year, the single largest contingent of foreign nationals to visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial.

When I was privileged to visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial in Hawaii a few years ago, there were many young Japanese tourists (mostly honeymooners, I'd guess) who were also visiting. As part of the exhibits they had a video presentation that told the story of the attack. During the showing, I could hear people sobbing quietly, and when the lights went back up, many of the young Japanese women were in tears and the men stolid-faced. I think the younger generation of Japanese is getting it and they will be a better people for it.
