The more NATO/EU hypocrisy creates friction with President Trump; the less U.S. support exists for Ukraine. That’s the dynamic Zelenskyy is trying desperately to navigate with his EU allies.
During a lengthy interview with Reuters, Zelenskyy says he has been directly told the only way for Ukraine to get security guarantees from USA participation is if he concedes the contested Donbas region to Russia and ends the conflict.
(snip)
That said, when Zelenskyy once again starts asking who is going to pay for the needs of his country, the U.S. taxpayer eyeroll commences.
(snip)
It’s never enough for this guy. Ukraine is a bottomless pit of money and corruption.
As the EU proclaims that Iran is not a NATO member and the middle east conflict is not their issue, President Trump rightly points out that Ukraine is not a NATO member, and the Ukraine conflict is not our issue.

"Oh. Johnny, I apologize; I forgot you were there. You may go now."--Doc Holliday
But the Ukraine conflict is our issue because we, as much as any other country apart from Russia itself, instigated this war.
By legislation, by proclamation, by international treaty agreements, by actions, by diplomacy, by clandestine trade craft, by funding, by supply of arms, by sanctions and by direct public encouragement, we inveigled Ukraine into this conflict.
If in war, you own it when you break it, you should own it when you make it.
That's some quality wordsmithing right there there from the Department of Redundancy Department.
“We” did no such thing. In fact, the voters of this country made a clear point when they elected the presidential candidate who wanted nothing to do with the stupid war.
AND I will also point out that this corrupt midget had the audacity to come here to the U.S. and make campaign appearances on behalf of the other candidate.
Of course we did such a thing, and it was done by the elected representatives and constitutional officers of the United States of America, including two presidents, of whom Donald Trump was one.
corrupt midget had the audacity to come here to the U.S. and make campaign appearances on behalf of the other candidate.
So when the United States mixes in the internal politics of Ukraine to the point of seducing them into a war, that is not an example of "audacity," it is benign? Are we somehow among all men and all nations privileged to do to them that which we would not have them do to us?
This is the best solution at this point. Make a deal with Russia regarding the assets within that area.
Sure let’s make a “deal” with Russia because they are trustworthy and have upheld our last deal(Budapest Memorandum) in which Russia promised to honor Ukraine’s borders.

Played off against one another; the largest part of our “inveigling”.
Vindman, Nuland and Haspel operated in UKR as unfettered (law unto themselves) mercenary operators.
Each in an \unelected\ position.
On the one hand the United States is demanding that Ukraine concede territory that Ukraine clearly defends and Russia simply cannot take.
This territory is crucial, because once possessed of it, Russia has a clear path to Kyiv and the rest of Ukraine, rendering the subsequent defense of Ukraine more expensive and bloody.
So the United States commits itself to defend Ukraine after it tells Ukraine to render itself more difficult to defend. That is incoherent.
It betrays an indifference to the realities on the ground, a tawdry desire to contrive some sort of settlement at any price, a price that might be higher and one that might have to be paid later. An indifference that is internally incoherent. Worse, it invites Russian aggression later on and commits the United States to kinetic warfare against nuclear-armed Russia.
The demand we are evidently making on Ukraine is not only immoral and incoherent, but extremely dangerous. Is just plain stupid.
“You give me money” — Zelensky
He played around in our election system and partnered with Democrats to raid the Treasury. I have been on the record saying that there is NO GOOD leadership in this war. There’s Putin and Zelensky, and they are just getting people killed.
My hope is for an end to the war, enough innocents and farmers have died. This is Obama’s war, and it’s gone on long enough. Trump is the only one trying to push both parties to the peace table.

Analyze that assertion for truth and respond
I asked grok to:
Analyze that assertion for truth and respond
I invite all readers to do the same and ask grok for themselves. Grok has some pretty harsh things to say about the assertion and its truth, and, unlike the assertion, grok supplies facts.

I respectfully disagree. The US was involved in initiating this conflict. Obama, Soros, and his friends at a three letter Acronym, along with some buddies in England, were instrumental in pushing this conflict. Your correct, Putin didn’t have to take the ‘bait’. There are no good people in leadership on either side of this conflict, IMHO.
I do agree that most American’s want nothing to do with Ukraine, because they see it as a ‘stupid’ war that never needed to happen and doesn’t trickle down to America.
Both Zelensky and some from the Labour Party of the UK came to work for the Harris-Walz campaign. As to Zelensky's campaigning in these United Statesm sources aplenty ---

"He’s [ President Trump ] in complete denial that his best bud V. V. Agreed.
How long has the little thief been operating as unelected president of Ukraine now?
Ukraine is another Deep State project. We broke our word to Russia and had no business expanding Nato up to Russia’s borders.
Ay "security guarantees" he issues are quite understandably viewed as nearly worthless while the security threat posed by turning over Donbas is existential for Ukraine, so it is very unlikely Ukraine will accept this deal.
The most ironic part is that by being more forceful with Putin, Trump could have already ended the war in Ukraine war. So while he tries to bring down the price of oil because of the Iran war, Ukraine just whacked 40% of Russia's oil exports.
Perhaps Trump thought he could wean Russia away from China by feeding it parts of Ukraine, but it is too weak to even defeat Ukraine, so what "assistance" could it provide against China?
Truth
Ukraine nationalists tried by every means some brutal….and failed and are continuing to fail… to turn all of the territory ceded by Lenin (Donbas 1922) Krushchev (Crimea 1954) and the territorial remnants of other failed empires ( Hungary. Poland ) …..and the various ethic and heritage groups within….into a map-bordered pure Ukrainian ethnostate.
They chose to ally with nazi Germany in WW2 because they thought the racial purity vision and purges embraced by the Fuehrer would align with their own future ethnic purges and nationalist goals. Killing off Jews Slavs and other “ inferiors” that resisted
Time to call it. As for reparations…Russia gets to rebuild the oblasts joined with the RF and Crimea.
Both false. Ukraine was split before 2014 between two groups, one (the majority in parliament) pro-EU and the other (the eastern oligarchs + Yanukovych) pro-Russia. The pro-Russia faction lost with a partial assist from the US and EU. But it was mainly a real, organic political sentiment in Ukraine.
We never gave any promise to Russia about NATO expansion. In fact, NATO expansion to Poland didn't take place until 10 years after the Wall fell, and even then, no new permanent foreign bases were built or troops stationed until after the 2014 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
You're presumption (and the Russian assertion) is that we somehow agreed that Russia would keep a "sphere of influence" in the former East Bloc. That was never the case, and in fact, was contrary to decades of claims we made about the "captive nations" during the Cold War. We didn't point to the "captive nations" of the Soviet Union for decades only to allow them to become "captive nations" of Russia.
Perhaps not.
It is fascinating that a world of 193 nations, a European Union of 450 million, and so many governments, that somehow the solution to this mess is supposed to be President Trump's to construct.
It is the Zbigniew Brzeziński model demanding we act as the sole "regent" -- his words from 1999 -- speaking through the years of his "grand chessboard" game.
The Europeans all gathered to lobby President Trump to do their bidding. Didn't quite work out as they'd planned.
If we are so corrupt then perhaps we are the “bad guys”, and the moral thing to do would be to allow all of Ukraine to be annexed by Russia(?)
