The new legislation in Washington is a 9.9% tax on income — not under stocks or anything — over $1 million a year starting in 2028, and then the first payments would be in 2029.
It's only less than 1% of people in Washington state who would be subject to this.

They only part of a millionaire’s income that is taxed is the income above $1M. So if a person makes $1.1M only the $100k is taxed. So their tax is $10k. Everything below $1M is not taxed. I’m not endorsing this tax, just explaining what is happening.
Be a lot easier to just redistribute her and other millionaire/billionaire wealth among the masses. Skip the middle-man. /s
You never hear these leftist idiots say what everyone’s fair share is do you. Its just a catchphrase for their propaganda. You also never hear them voluntarily give more taxes than required nor do you hear of them not using every possible deduction available to them (and some that are not). It’s a wonderful way to NOT be a millionaire if you have money you want to give away but are too lazy to find good places to donate.

I know quite a few generational wealthy Washingtonians. They hide assets and work the loopholes to not pay tax. This tax will be a gateway to middle-class taxation in this state.

Side note - a million dollars ain’t what it used to be. If you have a paid-off mortgage and little retirement savings, you’re probably worth over a million dollars.
