(snip) I've been at both ends of the spectrum, financially.
Becoming a millionaire is definitely not as simple as pulling yourself up and just doing the hard work. There's so much else that factors in — including a lot of luck. I got lucky.
It makes me mad when people say, "Well, I did it, so you can."(snip)
People should be able to get wealthy — there's nothing wrong with that. The thing is, just pay your fair share of taxes. That's the bottom line.(snip)
It's just a healthier way of structuring society than holding people down and taxing people into poverty, while people at the very high end are not contributing their share.(snip)
The new legislation in Washington is a 9.9% tax on income — not under stocks or anything — over $1 million a year starting in 2028, and then the first payments would be in 2029.
It's only less than 1% of people in Washington state who would be subject to this.
I recognize that as you gain more wealth, you keep looking around the corner saying, "Oh, if I had more, I could do this. I don't want to lose any of my money because I'm already looking at this new thing."
I believe it is a syndrome of excessive wealth disorder. (snip)
I just believe that there is excessive wealth, and it's getting worse — it's only going to get worse in very quick fashion.
Our inequality is so drastic. (snip)
We can see the impact of the excessive wealth inequality that's happening in our society, and it's very dangerous for all of us.(snip)
I'm just passionate about helping the people who want to do well.
It's just the right thing to do.

She's another know-it-all bleeding heart - what she "believes", is what everyone should do.
Yet she never did until it became law.
What’s considered your “Fair Share” and who decides what it is?
Why wait... Pay now. The government accepts gifts. Give them all your money now... They won’t refuse it.
She’s likely a liar. The rich dont have high incomes. Their businesses own their personal assets and they often borrow money to live off instead, because it is cheaper to pay yhe loans than to pay the taxes.
“I’m just passionate about helping the people who want to do well.” I’m all for it sweetheart, how much money can you give me?
Millionaire in DC surely made their money off our government largesse. That’s the only way to make big money in DC!
If you feel, you are not taxed enough, there is an account you can donate, whatever amount you want to the government!
She made money through the fraud of the tax payer funded AIDS industry.
“Victoria Hattersley, a 70-year-old author and retired millionaire from Mount Vernon, Washington, is married to her last and most wonderful husband, who was the head of the biostatistics group at the statistical and data analysis center involved in AIDS research at the Harvard School of Public Health. She met him while working on the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, where she was on the administrative side. Both she and her husband transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry, where they built their wealth through careers and stock options.”
I am not going to read this article.
However, HOW did this woman become wealthy?
FYI, I watched the Patrick Bet David this morning speak about the states that people are LEAVING.
MA was one of the first states to impose this higher income tax on Millionaires. Or million incomes. The Commonwealth stopped publishing the statistics on the amount of people LEAVING to move to other states since 2023. That is because it started increasing as soon as the law was instituted.
Meanwhile, up here in NH they continue to move in. I suspect the person building the $3 million house across from me came from MA or CA or NY or NJ or CT. I have yet to meet the owners. I only know they paid $750K for the 27 acres. Then spent several months on excavation prior to pouring concrete. I would guess it is going to be a 6000 square foot house.
She’ll quietly move later.
There’s so much else that factors in — including a lot of luck.
Ever get the feeling your a bad luck magnet so others don’t have it.
If some folks didn’t have bad luck they wouldn’t have any.
HERO’S
I believe it is a syndrome of excessive wealth disorder. (snip)
Sudden wealth syndrome (SWS) is a term given to a psychological condition where the overwhelming pressures of unexpected and/or abrupt fortune can develop into emotional and behavioural afflictions. It can also be referred to as an identity crisis.[9] The term sudden wealth syndrome was coined by practising wealth psychologist, Stephen Goldbart, co-founder of the Money, Meaning and Choices Institute (MMC Institute), as he noticed a great increase in symptoms related to gaining a large influx of wealth unexpectedly or abruptly.[9][10]
Her extra taxes will fund the government oppression of the citizens that are not favored minorities.

Americans have been falling for this “Tax The Rich” rhetoric since 1913. They don’t understand calculus and how to compute the area under a curve. You can prove that if the government took all the millionaires money it wouldn’t make a difference. They will eventually have to extend it to the middle class because that’s where all the money is. I wonder what they will do when the middle class is extinct as California is trying to accomplish.
I hope she is up to date on all her BOOSTERS.
She should probably run down to Walgreens and get another Covid vaccine.
No, when you pay more taxes you have less money. The debt does not change. The spending does not change. The same number of T-bills are produced. The only difference is that you have less money.
Victoria, there is a difference between wanting to contribute to “help” others and forcing others to pay their money to basically a scam build upon a fraud. Government currently is incapable of spending taxpayers money for the cause it used to “sell” the tax and actually achieving the stated goals. So give your money to whom ever for what ever reason, just do not attempt to browbeat others into rewarding scammers and fraudsters.
